The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and the Carbon County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) are asking for help from the public in gathering information about the theft of approximately 559 pounds of high explosives from a USFS explosives bunker located near Red Lodge.

A press release from the ATF says that in April 2013, someone used forced entry to get into an explosives storage facility owned and operated by the U. S. Forest Service.

The storage facility is located approximately two miles south of the City of Red Lodge.

Like the crime wave of the 30’s. BAR’s and Thompson’s were stolen from Armories and Police Department arsenals.
So if you want explosives and ammo, I guess the best place to get it is from the gov’t.
Hmm. Lefties are already blaming the Tea Party. Just doesn’t equate unless you’re a Progressive Marxist.

Or removing Timmy from the well. I remember episodes where Lassie associated with Forest Service Rangers...

It does not require a big truck to move 500 lbs. Just about any car and certainly any pickup truck is capable of transporting 500 lbs of cargo.

I, too, wonder what the Forest Service was doing with such a huge quantity of explosive material, particularly in this part of the U.S.

It's for blowing the bridges when the zombie attacks start.

Even in foreign countries, it's easy to steal from the US government.

Like there are so many bridges in that state! My friend (sort of because she’s a lib) whose daughter lives there said they needed it so they could do back burning in case of a forest fire. I think your response sounds more plausible.

Actually if you stop and think, the Forest service does use explosives to open fire breaks in the event of forest fires. But over 500 pounds of explosives. Hmm..?

“Huh. Why does the Forest Service have that kind of muscle?”

Well, the last time I took a FS blasting class, we used nearly that much just for practice....

But over 500 pounds of explosives.

Many here agree that 500 lbs. of 'explosives' isn't really that much, considering the likely uses. It's not like you use it all at once, else there would be no need to have it in storage.
