Pay Attention: CO Democrats Using Election Process to Enshrine Power
PJ Media ^ | May 2, 2013 | J Christian Adams

Something is happening in Colorado, and you better pay attention. Colorado Democrats, with the active help of some Republican county election clerks interested in shirking work, have devised a revolutionary plan to remake future Colorado elections.

The plan is simple: ballots are automatically mailed out to every single person on the voter rolls. Ballots are even mailed to people listed as “inactive” voters at their last known address. Ballots are then voted and returned by mail.

No more polling places.

No more voters actually demonstrating an interest in participating in an election. The government will decide that for them, and scatter millions of paper ballots into the U.S. mail.

In 2016, this system will be an invitation to fraud. It will be unmanageable. And it will be a model to pass in other states controlled by Democrats.

Despite the effort of some senators, this proposal will almost certainly become law because the GOP doesn’t have the numbers to stop it. Election-integrity champion and Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler is trying to explain how this proposal will breed fraud, but Democrats don’t care.

This bill is about power, not good government. If it passes, Colorado will likely remain blue for years. Those who doubt that don’t understand how important process is to election outcomes. Cleta Mitchell, an election-law expert, recently spoke to the True the Vote national summit on the topic: ”Process, process, process,” she told the audience.

Process is what the Left cares about, so much so that they are pouring $100,000,000 into the “Democracy Initiative,” a plot to permanently reshape American politics by altering election-process laws.

The conservative and GOP response? Next to nothing. It will probably include more money for radio spots the weekend before an election and more tweets.

The Left understands they can reshape the country on issues of immigration, abortion, taxes, business regulation, defense, terrorism, and health care by reshaping election-process laws. This is why they oppose voter ID, citizenship verification, and purges of dead voters . This is why they propose early voting, welfare agency voter registration, same-day voter registration (which gave usAl Franken), felon voting, and counting illegal aliens for redistricting purposes to subsidize Democrat legislative seats .

When you control election-process rules, your ideas need not appeal to a majority of people to obtain power.

Which brings us back to Colorado. Like so many of these election-process fights, Republicans are unwitting dupes of the Left. Either they don’t understand the ground beneath them is moving very deliberately, or they are too lazy to do anything about it, or they simply adopt the cause of their enemies.

In Colorado, two Republican election clerks who have joined with Democrats to help pass this catastrophic bill are Jefferson County ClerkPamela Anderson (303-271-8186) and Mesa County Clerk Sheila Reiner (970-244-1662). They were instrumental in drafting the bill, according to emails obtained by PJ Media.

Pam Anderson

Reiner recently said in an interview that she thinks she should be immune from criticism for helping draft the bill: “I think we should be able to support it without consequences.”

Sheila Reiner

In America, more than any nation that ever existed, there are consequences when government officials do bad things. Accountability is central to preserving limited government. In the emails obtained by PJ Media, Reiner and Anderson are intimately involved in crafting the language of the Democrats’ bill. The emails show the pair working with a clerk’s association lobbyist named Michael Beasley.

Sources tell me Beasley is a long-time Republican.

The Left understands election-process issues are existential for all other issues. For some reason, the other side is suicidal.

So this is the first time you heard about vote by mail?

Aren't there some states that only allow voting by mail?

What about early voting so that a person can vote in two states?

What about states that don't require voter ID?

What about governments that only pay lip service to the few services they are supposed to get right such as making sure that elections are run properly?

That ship sailed a long, long time ago.

Definitely not, I live in WA state and we have vote by mail.

WA is a blue state controlled by libtards, need I say more?

Doesn’t mean we just give up and go along with the RATS program.

All vote by mail in Washington state already. I don’t expect to ever win another election (until after the revolution).

I hear ya. At least we can still get a few Republicans in office in the Eastern and SW part of the state but it doesn’t help for the higher offices.

If conservatives rounded up all these ballots, and voted them for the conservative candidate, I’m sure you’d see sweeping reforms.

Oregon was slowly becoming a Red State until they passed vote by mail. Now it’s a blue state.

Election fraud is so easy with vote by mail even Republicans could do it.

Eventually they will and elections will become caricatures as each side tries to out cheat the other and with the winners seeking to catch out and punish the losers after each election.

It’s a bad idea whose time has come as our nation continues the death spiral of representative government. The Gods of the Copybook Headings have spoken.

They wouldn’t proposed this unless they felt there was a strategic advantage.

I’ll never understand or accept the notion of voter fraud as somehow being impossible to solve. It’s a problem both parties seem to find a convenience.

Wait until they have vote by computer.

That will be fun for a while as hackers "elect" Mickey Mouse and Justin Bieber.

conservatives don’t know how to go to the mattresses....they don’t know how to fight good and hard....we have to be “nice” and “polite” and even though we allow everyone else to skirt the law, we just can’t seem to do it ,even for the good of the country...
