As the Obama administration prepares to launch a new round of strategic nuclear missile cuts, Russias strategic nuclear forces are undergoing a major modernization, according to U.S. officials.
Russia's military announced last month that as part of the nuclear buildup, Moscow later this year will deploy the first of its new intercontinental ballistic missiles called the Yars-M.
Details of the missile are being kept secret, but it has been described as a fifth-generation strategic nuclear system that Russian officials say will be able to penetrate U.S. missile defenses using a new type of fuel that requires a shorter burn time for booster engines.
The solid-fueled, road-mobile ICBM was tested a year ago, and it is said to have an increased payload capacity for a warhead weighing up to 1.5 tons. The range is 6,835 miles. Like earlier mobile missiles known as SS-29s and SS-27s, the new ICBM is expected to have up to 10 multiple, independently targetable warheads.

Rep. Mike Rogers, Alabama Republican and chairman of the House Armed Services subcommittee on strategic forces, said in a recent speech that the administration is short between $1 billion and $1.6 billion that was promised in 2010 for nuclear modernization.
Among nuclear programs in trouble are a new strategic submarine, life extension programs for B-61, W-76 and W-88 nuclear warheads and a long-range standoff nuclear cruise missile. A needed plutonium facility in New Mexico was also canceled, Mr. Rogers said.
The Pentagon also postponed a test launch of a Minuteman III ICBM last month

The Pentagon also has signaled a further lack of resolve toward its nuclear modernization program by ordering an environmental impact study of shutting down an entire land-based nuclear-missile wing.

Thank you, Senate, for ratifying NEW START during the infamous post-2010 election lame duck session.
We’re going to pay dearly for their misdeeds.
But Amerika has taken a significant lead vs. the Russians in persecuting the Christian population of its Armed Forces.
Strategic Surrender is the U.S. policy that’s been favored by the Radical Left since the 1960s. They’ve now managed to get enough of themselves elected to influential positions to make it happen.
” . . . a significant lead vs. the Russians in persecuting the Christian population of its Armed Forces.”
This element of military preparedness does not add to our 17+ trillion dollar unsustainable national debt, which debt precludes effective U.S. competition with Russia.
Using the DoD for societal deconstruction initiatives requires very few dollars.
Did they ever get the Bulava missile to actually work?
“Strategic Surrender is the U.S. policy thats been favored by the Radical Left...”
Absolutely correct. We have not updated or test fired our nuke warheads for years even though these are way past the design date for reliability. Our delivery missiles are an older design and limited by treaties signed years ago with the USSR, not present Russia and China. Both of these major powers and new nuclear states are building threats we are ignoring to the point we are leaving our land open to attack or blackmail to the point of surrendering. Our leftist leaders are part of the threat we live under and we must wake up or we will be slaves or dead.

And the new female/gay infantry will certainly defeat the Russians in terms of fashion!
From time to time, I have feared that the consuming fire from the Bible may have meant nuclear weapons foreseen by God, in light of the current situation, it sadly looks likely that the nuclear holocaust may just actually be possible.
As far as our leaders go, well, they figure that it makes us look real tough when we go swat at flies like the Taliban.
Even in conventional warfare, I pretty much fear our nation’s weaponry is just not meant for use against a modern military.
With an injection of liberalism at the top of American politics all too often, we’re back where we started in respect to Cuber and Russia in the JFingK days.
How this nation could put up with Cuba only 90 miles off our coast while invading Iraq and Afghanistan instead of nuking them doesn’t border on, it is just plain stupid!
After fighting the Korean war to an embarrassing draw and then putting up with their missiles, along with China and Russia all aimed at our nation is another just plain stupid history of this once great nation.
With the African jerk at the head of a dysfunctional government I don’t believe we have a chance unless we change our form of government. We might as well due to the fact that these lousy liberals in both incestuous parties have used the Constitution to wipe their asses on. We might as well as this pitiful nation caters to the every whim of a repulsive minority.
Let’s go for it and to hell what the UN and the world thinks of us. They hate us anyway. What have we got to lose?
