It’s political —NRA holds it’s national convention in Houston on Friday.

Yep. Don't forget, there was an equally inexplicable suicide at the recent NRA 500 race at the Texas Motor Speedway.

Because the potential for attention posed by prohibited guns on crowded airplanes is obvious, even beyond any overt issues of terrorism or premeditated crime.

Fox is saying one dead and one injured.

Think the TSA monster shot someone else when he “missed”?

Why don’t these people just drown in their bathtubes and be done with it, rather than making it a state or national issue. Sheesh!

while suicide leads the list of gun deaths, suicide by gunfire is low on the number of overall suicides. It isn't the guns that make them kill themselves and the Left knows it.

An air marshal fired at him and missed, then the perp pulled out another pistol and shot himself.

Similar story out of the Oregon (or was it Washington?) shopping mall shooting just before the Newtown Massacre. Guy opened fire, hitting a couple of people. Some CCW guy shot back and missed. Perp immediately shot himself. These guys only want the power rush of killing unopposed and ending with suicide--the ultimate in control. Like hitting the delete key on your own existence. Being in a firefight doesn't interest them, and being wounded and taken alive even less. Guys in firefights hope to live. Most of these guys don't.

Everythings about making a statement today...one way or another....killing onesself and others seems to becomeing the “fad”....if the media didn’t run with it it would likely not be a big deal.

It's the gun issue that drives this story in the news cycle. If he'd jumped to his death he would still have been a threat to those below him but the local and national media never report jumper suicides "it might push some viewer over the edge and solicit copycat behavior".

GAWD! Tell me about it!
I've actually bought firearms BECAUSE of the ammo shortage.
Got myself a Rossi Rio Grande 45-70 Govt for my birthday.
At $2.00 per shot, it's pricey. But at least I'll get some shooting time.

"The Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS) is a United States federal law enforcement agency under the supervision of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS)."

I would think they have a few million to spare within the same agency. Remember, the first excuse for the 1.2 billion purchase order was they needed it for target practice and training. Someone whittled that down to 750 million actually obtained.

Whoa new news!

Law enforcement sources tell the Blaze gunman "planned to take out the entire terminal"

Several shots were fired at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, Thursday afternoon. The gunman died from self-inflicted wounds after firing a couple rounds, but Houston Police Department sources tell TheBlaze the suspect intended to “take out the entire terminal.”

According to KHOU, the shooting occurred near the ticket counter in Terminal B of Texas’ largest airport when the gunman fired a couple shots in the air with an AR-15 before bringing out another gun, a pistol, and shooting himself.

The Houston Chronicle reported a spokeswoman saying the incident, which is believed to be isolated, occurred around 1:35 p.m. Central time.

After the suspect fired shots into the air, KHOU reported an air marshal shooting at the man and missing, before the gunman then shot himself.

“As soon as he walked in, he just automatically started shooting quickly,” a McDonald’s employee named Kendra told KHOU. “And we hear two shots and we just automatically started running. We ran all the way to the back.”

Kendra called the event “traumatic” with “too much going on.”

Dale Howard, of Tomball, was at the baggage handling area of the airport waiting for his sister to arrive on an incoming flight when he heard two shots fired from the floor above. A few seconds later, he said he heard three more shots.

“People were screaming. I knew exactly what it was – gunfire,” Howard said.

The suspect was taken by ambulance to an area hospital. There are no reports of other injuries and terminal has since been closed for investigation, in which the FBI is assisting.

HPD sources also told TheBlaze the man is from out of town and police are searching his hotel.

The Federal Aviation Administration delayed traffic arriving into this airport until 4 p.m. Central time.

That... and the Boston Bombing...probably the school shootings too...but it’s still all about the drama....reporters like a HOT story they can build a foloowing on..and if there isn’t one...or one that would never get there...they will create a story to get the following.

I just can’t wait until the stories begin coming out about all the “high capacity ammunition clips” he had in a bag. The move to ban them will gain some serious TV time.

“If only he had 7 bullet clips, he would have had to reload more often. Those 30 bullet clips must be banned!”

3-2-1... BREAKING NEWS...

Reports of one person wounded.

There is a report that there was two shots fired (AR-15 fired in the air), then three shots fired.

If the guy shot himself in the head with the pistol and the air marshal shot at the person as well, where was the 3rd shot from.

There is security footage of this.

Maybe Obama has allocated $100 million to edit this security footage to promote gun control. He will probably take from the Pentagon budget to do this...

I imagine that the Obama Administration is making it a priority to take the security footage at the terminal, edit it and classify as National Security footage.

Then the edited footage will be used to promote gun control.

Probably Obama will take $100 million from the Pentagon budget to do this.

With the fact the air marshal missed, that may be made into an excuse to buy 2 billion rounds of ammo for TSA/air marshal target practice.

Absolutely correct - they report the use of a gun which does engender some copycats, while not reporting jumpers. Had a friend who worked in one of the tallest high rises in the city, had seen more than one “jumper” - but they never made the news. There were more than one every year from that building - never reported to the public.

****************************
KHOU needs to do some research. DFW is the 2nd largest airport in the USA, with Denver being number one.

Houston Bush is first in Texas in international flights, and DFW is second.

That said... Many earlier comments mentioned this might have been political. Since terminal B handles the bulk of domestic flights, is it possible this guy was trying to cause the terminal to shut down just to disrupt the arrival of people coming to the NRA convention?

Probably not. I think he had other problems.

The man was a troubled young man (29).

The man wrote on his facebook page today that he was having trouble controlling the monster inside him.

He was from Beaumont, Texas.

This apparently had NOTHING to do with the NRA convention!

Given all that, he appears to be an African-American.

But this could have easily have been a WHITE man who was troubled.

RACE IS NOT a factor in this case.
