Number issued in 1st 3 months is half of total issued in 2012
Attorney General Mike DeWine says county sheriffs issued more than 37,000 licenses for carrying concealed weapons in the first quarter of 2013. More than 31,000 of those were new licenses.
That's up from a little under 17,000 new licenses in the first quarter of 2012.

Big vote of confidence for the police there!
Maybe the cumulative effect of seeing cops conduct DUI checkpoints, run radar at all hours, drive up and down main street all day in broad daylight when nothing bad is happening, and getting a shrug of the shoulders and an ‘aren’t you insured?’ when a car or home is burgled is convincing people that their priorities and that of ‘law enforcement’ are quite different.

the second amendment is not a minor issue to a large segment of Ohio voters and, as a result, this blatant gun grabbing nonsense being pursued by the Obama administration is not going to earn them an abundance of support. It’s going to cost them votes. the only question is how many.
