Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor said Thursday the investigation into the Boston Marathon bombings shows how difficult and sensitive the issue of racial profiling can be.
Speaking with young students in Denver, Sotomayor noted that some people asked whether authorities had done enough to track the two suspects, both ethnic Chechens.
“Is that profiling? Could be,” she said. “Is it something you just can't ignore? Maybe sometimes not.” …

“Profiling” is the most powerful tool at law enforcement’s disposal. It is a GOOD thing.
Well, when being Muslim is connected with warnings from Russia, it no longer should be considered profile. To the contrary, the hand-wringing of the liberal bedwetters over profiling probably was a major contributing factor to the bombers falling off the FBI radar after the Russian warnings.

I worked for a federal law enforcement agency for 32 years in an area where 99% of the perpetrators where white males. When looking for a suspect we almost reflexively eliminated minorities and women. I didn’t hear anyone complaining about racial profiling.

profiling goes on everytime I go to the airport. TSA always selects me for the full treatment by an agent plus a supervisor. As I look around I mostly see people like me being body searched - never seen an mid-eastern appearing person being searched. Oh, by the way I am an old white guy - replacement knees, clean shaven with military and law enforcement in my background.
TSA profiles old white guys like me!!
