The Boston Mindset: Cringe Like Sheep
American Thinker ^ | 5/3/13 | William A Levinson

Posted on 05/03/2013 10:13:39 AM PDT by Winged Hussar

Colonel Jeff Cooper's To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Speak the Truth describes exactly what is wrong with the United States today. Cooper wrote of the society in which he grew up during the 1930s,

"Boys were taught to shoot and use their hands, and girls were taught to expect that in their men. ... In that society, it would have been both futile and ridiculous for two punks to assume control over 159 people."

Cooper's position was that there was no excuse -- none -- for 159 passengers to allow a pair of hijackers to take over an airliner. It is easy to imagine what Cooper would say about more than a million people in Boston and its suburbs allowing one punk to lock them in their homes, and out of their workplaces, at a cost of up to one billion dollars. The message to terrorists could not be clearer: Any deranged individual willing to sacrifice his life or his freedom can bring a major U.S. city to its knees.

Cooper explained exactly why:

"The press, academe, and the law enforcement establishment preach: Do not fight back! On the street, in your home, on the airplane, on the high seas, anywhere, anytime. Do not fight back! You may be hurt."

Yes....shelter-in-place and cower in fear of Muslims this country recruited to come here and blow you up. Never fear, we will invade your home and point our automatic weapons at you, scream at you and humiliate you, so we can be sure that you pose no threat of actually owning a weapon in your own home. We are here to help, you fools.

Attacks like the Boston Marathon bombings will come to an end when the perpetrators fear the police far less than they fear the potential retribution of vigilantes.

I have a copy of that book. Great stuff!

I bought it cheap when it first was published back in the late 80’s.

Cooper's position was that there was no excuse -- none -- for 159 passengers to allow a pair of hijackers to take over an airliner.

This part of his essay is wrongheaded. It was doctrinal prior to 9/11 to not fight hijackers as they usually wanted money or passage somewhere - nothing worth dying for to stop. On 9/11, once it was realized that the hijackers were bent on suicide terrorism, the passengers of Flight 93 fought back.

And ever since passengers have walloped attempted hijackers on the spot.

I was about to post that, but as I read through the main post on this thread it occurred to me that the guy may not have been referring to one of the 9/11 hijackings with that example.

You're absolutely right. I remember telling people shortly after 9/11 that terrorists all over the world are probably cursing the names of the 9/11 hijackers ... because hijacking an airplane and using the passengers as bargaining chips is no longer a feasible method of carrying out a terrorist attack.

"Fighting back" is only practical when you have a reasonable sense of how lethal the threat may be. No bank, for example, would ever advise its employees or customers to "fight back" in a robbery -- even if the perpetrator isn't clearly armed. In that particular example, there's almost no cost to letting the perp get away and tracking him down later.

“Yes....shelter-in-place and cower in fear of Muslims this country recruited to come here and blow you up.”

Anymore people also have to ‘shelter in place’ so they don’t get shot at by the police when they’re rampaging after someone. And even that isn’t a promise of safety as we saw in Watertown where warrantless searches were conducted by SWAT teams from multiple jurisdictions.

They have voted rabid communist for years and years. They have sissified their men and lesbianized their women right per the manifesto. Vote communist, suffer communism. It’s that simple. Calling them “sheep” is seen as a complement.

There’s no excuse for that. He violated every principle of safe handling right there and he absolutely violated the rights of the person he aimed at.

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses...”

How is anyone secure in their home when rogue cops are aiming weapons willy-nilly at every shadow? That’s just soooooo wrong!!

If this picture is accurate, the man in the turret is endangering the person with the camera. You do not, EVER, point a firearm at somebody you do not have a good reason (like self-defense) to shoot.

It is an actual crime, misdemeanor or felony, in some states to point a firearm at another person, except in self-defense.

I think that, while you are correct about passengers fighting back, our eyes first began to open during the hijacking of TWA 847 in 1985 when Navy diver Robert Stethem was killed by the Hezbollah hijackers for being an American military.

“How is anyone secure in their home when rogue cops are aiming weapons willy-nilly at every shadow? That’s just soooooo wrong!!”

Let me be absolutely clear - the police are NOT your friends.

It is now known that the cops skipped searching the block where bomberboy was hiding in the boat. How did that happen? WHY did that happen? The owner of the boat was the one who found him after the “shelter in place” order was lifted. The lifting of that order is a clear indication that the cops were stumped and decided it would be OK to use citizens as bait to lure bomberboy out.

Cops - especially fedgov cops - are inherently incompetent. The ratlibs want to take away our guns so that only THEIR guys have guns. What could possible go wrong?

All laws restricting government officials are suspended when a crisis that can't be wasted arises.

You didn't get the memo?
