Google has recognised the Palestinians' upgraded UN status, placing the name "Palestine" on its search engine instead of "Palestinian Territories," a company spokesman said on Friday.
The domain name www.google.ps, Google's search engine for the territories, now brings up a homepage with "Palestine" written underneath the Google logo.
The change took effect on Wednesday, Google spokesman Nathan Tyler said in a statement.
"We're changing the name 'Palestinian Territories' to 'Palestine' across our products. We consult a number of sources and authorities when naming countries. In this case, we are following the lead of the UN... and other international organisations," he said.
The UN General Assembly in November upgraded Palestine to the status of non-member observer state by a vote of 138 votes in favour, nine against and 41 abstentions.
Palestinian authorities have since begun to use the "State of Palestine" in diplomatic correspondence and issued official stamps for the purpose.
Israel questioned Google's decision.
"This change raises questions about the reasons behind this surprising involvement of what is basically a private Internet company in international politics -- and on the controversial side," foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said.
But now by bestowing Palestine with its own Google home page, as if it were a state, an American publicly-traded company making highly controversial political decisions where others, namely countries, UN members, have very wisely chosen to hold off on any such decision, seems to have gone where they have no business going, raising the political stakes in a brazen, highly questionable manner, that says more about Google's moonbat beliefs than any logo could convey.
For sure, the search requests, keywords are bound to be as different, far-askew from the standard terms associated with Google in civilized countries around the world. Bomb-making, kitchen-rockets, poison gas manufacturing, are going to remake the Google Palestine database all its very own.
So what is Gaza? Surely you cannot recognize two independent government ruled territories as the same country?
I avoid Google whenever possible, and when not possible, I use a gateway that avoids associating me with that pothole of potheads.
I eagerly await competition. The truth is out there.
Good. Since everyone wants to make them what they are not, a country, ‘Palestine” get the benefits. Like “State Sponsored Terrorism” and “Act of War” to go with it.
I find everything I need to know about the palitrash using search terms like; goat humping, rape, pedophile, +islamist etc.
Likely: As does Google, so will the Obama administration.

An alternative search engine that is popular among freedom-minded folks: https://duckduckgo.com/
I use Bing. I’ll be switching from gmail to Outlook. I plan to replace my Android phone with a BB. I don’t trust google. At all.
I have been telling folks on here that the media and government have been subverted by Middle Eastern funds. This is even more proof and evidence of influence bought in major companies by the same money.
If you've got to tell yourself that, most likely you are evil.
drip, drip, drip, drip ...
so is there any practical way to tell Google to go straight to HELL!?
I’ve recently switched to StartPage.com. Works as good as Google...actually they get the results from Google
Don’t used google, don’t use gmail, don’t use android.
There are alternatives. Use the alternatives.
