Parents Rally to Save Classroom Breakrasts
LA Times ^ | April 30, 2013 | Teresa Watanabe

Union officials representing school cafeteria workers led a noisy rally of parents Tuesday to save a Los Angeles Unified classroom breakfast program that feeds nearly 200,000 children but was in danger of being axed after sharp criticism by teachers.

Earlier this month, the teachers union posted a video and online poll findings showing that more than half of 729 respondents said the classroom breakfast program had increased pests, created messes and consumed an average of 30 minutes of instructional time per day. That lost time, the union said, amounted to eight school days.

He said United Teachers Los Angeles had complained that serving breakfast in the classroom, rather than before school in the cafeteria, took up too much instructional time and created messes.

The “parents” (aka breeders) are protesting because they have to roll off their doper boyfriend and throw some sh!t in a bag for the kid to eat at school. The breakfast provider (aka the carb caterer) is losing business and is mad as hell and threatens to cut the kickbacks to the school officials. The teachers (aka daytime babysitters) are angry because, without the carbs to lull them to sleep, the little brats are making noise and keeping them awake. The union (aka organized crime entity) is mad at everyone and has an urge just to beat the hell out of someone. But all things considered, pretty normal.

LOL, Yep, that’s what happens when I’m trying to get out the door in two seconds - - with barking dogs, hungry husband, thirsty garden, yapping dogs and impatient kids!!

I work in this district. The breakfasts are wheeled into the classrooms on carts and the kids eat at their desks.

They are rolled in before instruction starts, correct?

No. During instruction at the beginning of the school day, not before school. I suppose the thinking is that the kids can eat while they learn.

United Teachers Los Angeles complaines that serving breakfast in the classroom, rather than before school in the cafeteria, took up too much instructional time and created messes.

From the original article:

The classroom breakfast program consumes an average of 30 minutes of instructional time per day. That lost time, the union said, amounted to eight school days.

Our rooms have been turned into eating areas.

There is nothing that comes from the LA school district teachers union that I beleive.
Maybe at your school its different.

It is NOT different at my school. Breakfasts are served at the beginning of the school day in the classrooms during instruction.

Do you think the LA Times, UTLA, Sleazy Deasy, superintendant of the LAUSD, or I, an employee of the LAUSD in an LAUSD classroom are making this up?

This is how it’s done in the LAUSD, not just at my school.

If you choose not to believe this, there is nothing more I can do.

At my grandkids schools all of them breakfast is served BEFORE school starts.
If your school is different so be it, I again say NOTHING the LA union school districts teachers say do I beleive.

You are quite wrong, this program brought the breakfasts right into the classroom after the school day had begun. Read the article: the parent herself said that the before-school breakfast didn't work because her kids used the time to play instead of eat.

But then, parents often lie too.

Well, I don't blame you for hating teachers. In particular, I don't blame you for hating yours. They couldn't even teach you how to spell believe, much less admit when you are wrong. Face it, you didn't read the article and now you're trying to pretend that you did but simply believe it's all a lie.

See how the word LIE is in the word BELIEVE? See it there? be-LIE-ve. There. Now maybe you'll remember.

Not once did I say I hate teachers, I said I do not beleive anything that comes out of the mouths of the LAUSD teachers union.

Great defection though.

Wait......look over there a miss spelled word and a bunny.....awwhhh how cute.

See, even now you won’t correct it because you can’t back down. You’re one of those people who can’t admit when they’ve made a mistake. You need to read that article. It’s not the teachers claim, the parents are saying it too. And the newspapers. AND one of your fellow Freepers who said he works there.

Give it a rest.
I said I do not beleive anything that comes from the mouths of the LAUSD unions mouths, how hard is that for you to get, never mentioned parents.

Why should I give it a rest? I’m rather enjoying making you say over and over that this whole article is a lie, and refusing to spell “believe” correctly because you can’t admit when you’re wrong. This article states very clearly that the breakfasts were served IN THE CLASSROOM and that it is the parents who want it to continue. One parent said straight out that this is the only way her kid gets breakfast, and that if it were served BEFORE, in the cafeteria, they wouldn’t eat it. Then another Freeper (not me) also told you that he works in the district and he’s seen it. So it’s not just the union saying this. That you are pretending not to believe this program even exists simply to cover for the fact that you shot off at the mouth without reading the article is... frankly cracking me up. I like making you say it over and over. And you will. As long as I keep responding, you’ll keep digging yourself deeper and deeper, and some days I’m just in the mood to hand a fool a shovel.

At one time this would have been unimaginable.

But....That is the Marxist plan: Gradualism! It part of the communist plot to slowly turn up the heat on the frog in the pot.

The Marxist plan is to have government teachers in the hospital delivery rooms. The teachers snatch the baby from the mom and raise them in government “schools” that run 24/7 for 365 days a year until the child reaches age 27. Age 27 will be considered the new take off point for beginning of adolescence.
