Posted on 05/04/2013 12:25:56 AM PDT by Daffynition
Last Christmas many Dicks customers were sent one mean lump of coal in the form of a gift certificate. All customers who pre-ordered a Troy Carbine from Dicks for their Black Friday special had their orders cancelled and their money returned.
Following the Newtown shooting spree, Dicks Sporting Goods changed their policy and stopped selling AR-pattern and other semi-automatic, magazine-fed rifles, even the guns they had already sold.
If theres a silver lining for all the people who were eagerly waiting for that Troy Carbine and were vastly dissappointed, its that Dicks isnt doing so well in the financial department.
At a time where the only thing a company has to do to sell firearms, ammo and accessories is to unlock their doors, Dicks sales have flat-lined. In fact, their sales dropped 2.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012 compared to 2011 and their shares 10 percent in the last quarter.

This story makes me smile. Stoopid should hurt.
The fact that they stopped selling the very guns that they had already sold. The CEO should get a big raise.
Because there’re DickS.
Cabala’s and locally owned Mills Fleet Farm both just opened large gun only stores. Fleet farm even put in a huge indoor range.
I go to Fleet Farm where the sign on the door says CC permit holders and their weapons are welcome!
Thanks for posting this, I shop there all the time, but not any longer.
The Knoxville store lost my business when the snotty little clerk proudly informed me they’ve never stocked ammunition in that store.
Black Gun Ban? That’s Racist.
“The Knoxville store lost my business when the snotty little clerk proudly informed me theyve never stocked ammunition in that store.”
Went to Dicks a few years ago and was interested in looking at a Marlin 795 but the clerk wouldnt remove the trigger lock so I could test the trigger. Asked to speak to the manager who said it was store policy. He admitted the policy was stupid but wouldnt risk his job. Needless to say I didnt buy from them.
Will Dicks Sporting Goods go out of Business soon?
This is my rifle, this is my gun... why buy a gun from a dick?
Who would know? With any luck........
Well they don’t call it “Dick’s” for nothing...... ;-)
I have not purchased from them since and I never will again. Dick can FOAD!
Dicks is such a Richard !
Hope they go broke for their PC bullshit....
Dick’s is opening a new store here at Lake of the Ozarks.
Guess we’re lucky here in the Panhandle of Texas..... Never seen that franchise here. Don’t like big box franchises myself. I will pay extra to shop mom and pop locally owned stores when possible....
Hope yer well...stay safe !
How about writing to the CEO of Dicks? Maybe the Dick head will finally get it.
banning black guns is racist
Olson Johnson: What are we made of? Our fathers came across the prairies, fought Indians, fought drought, fought locusts, fought Dick's... remember when Dick's Sporting Goods came in here and tried to piss on the Second Amendment? Well, we didn't give up then, and by gum, we're not going to give up now!
Dicks started as a small bait shop and sporting goods store on Robinson Street in Binghamton in 1948 by Dick Stack. His Son Ed now runs the business from Pittsburgh PA where he moved some years ago to better serve the suppliers...Dicks has always been a family run business and the expansion has been largely through clothing and sports equipment. They also now sponsor the Dick’s Open at the EnJoie Golf Club in Endicott, now a Senior Tour stop...it had been the BC Open...
Tere was pressure, I am sure, from all points to have Dicks comply with the regime, I find it sad that they did. Dick and my Dad were friends and did business and I got my baseball gloves, and the rest of the stuff I needed for years from there...used to be a great Saturday when we got our hair cut at the Barn Barbershop by Pierre and Tony, and then went to Dicks on Court Street...sigh...
the local Harley dealer has a CC holders welcome sign.
