Judges rule to destroy homeschoolers' family

The justices of the Supreme Court of Sweden have finished the destruction of a family that was begun in their lower courts, rejecting an appeal of a ruling that permanently separated a young boy from his parents because he was being homeschooled.

“In a perfunctory order the Swedish Supreme Court rejected a desperate appeal by Christer and Annie Johansson, parents of Domenic Johansson, who was torn from his parents while minutes from takeoff on an international flight as the family prepared to move to India,” said a report from the Home School Legal Defense Association, which along with a team from the Alliance Defending Freedom has been fighting on behalf of the family.

Michael Donnelly, HSLDA’s director for international affairs, said the decision is reprehensible but characteristic of the Swedish court system’s callousness.

“We are grateful for the many people who responded to our request to send letters to the court. We are heartbroken by the court’s unwillingness to hear this case,” he said. “How can anyone respect the Swedish justice system that allows this kind of injustice to go unheard.”

Donnelly vowed that the fight will continue.

“How can we give up?” he asked. “The fact that both Johanssons have survived after nearly four years without their only child is a testimony to their faith and hope. We will leave no stone unturned in helping this family plead their case, but there are few courts left to which they can turn. We ask our friends and supporters to keep this family and their legal team in their thoughts and prayers.”

He said some may wish to ask the court to reconsider their decision. The family’s lawyers are also reviewing other legal procedures that may be available to request reconsideration or to take the case to the European Court .............

You can see a case of extremely dangerous dissidents. They are certainly worthy of deportation, unlike that famous family of poor Chechen refugees.

Jefferson Airplane had it about right:

"What are we going to do when Uncle Samuel comes around asking for the young one’s name?, looking for the print of his hand for their files in their numbers game, I don’t want his chances for freedom to ever be that slim—let’s not tell them about him”

Barbarians. This is the sort of justice we’d have in this country too if liberals had their way. You know how they feel about home schooling.

I thank God regularly that my daughter made it to adulthood before the Libs got to this level here. All I can really say.

But if they were muslims I bet the Swedish government would have left them the hell alone!

Sweden deserves a tragedy. Something similar to 9/11. What a fascist, Orwellian state.

Don’t think for a moment that the liberals, statists, free traders, and internationalists in both US parties have the same plan for homeschoolers here.

"I don't want his chances for freedom to ever be that slim/
Let's not tell 'em about him —"

Paul Kantner always had pro-life tendencies. There was that lovely guitar riff on Surrealistic Pillow --- "Embryonic Journey" --- and this song "A Child is Coming," and once he made a surprising remark (quoted in a newspaper, I don't remember where or when) that the Left doesn't like killing seals and whales, but goes the other way pretty easy when it's the unborn child.

He's probably said things on the pro-abort side, too, because when you're on the way-Left, even if you have a pro-life instinct in private, in public you have to be, at best, ambivalent.

Do you know anything about this?

"Do you know anything about this? "

Not really. It just just struck a chord with me at the time that has stuck over the decades.

parents of Domenic Johansson, who was torn from his parents while minutes from takeoff on an international flight as the family prepared to move to India,

Not only must you live as we say, but you also may not leave and go to places where you might be allowed to live as you wish.

Oh. Jorma’s the Finnish Jew, right? I always liked Jefferson Airplane. For dopers they seemed so innocent, freedom-loving and decent, and I loved the music. Funny, when you think back almost 50 years.

It's never really been different. Apparently you haven't watched the movie with Liv Ullman called "The Emigrants" ~ good introduction to the problem.

Back when that movie came out it made me realize that I had no idea if I had any Swedish ancestors, or if Sweden even had a history.

Took a while but I remedied the problem ~ then, more recently I found out that the Swedes kept all their official records of the 1500s and 1600s in one building which burned in the late 1600s. They've spent centuries trying to reassemble the greater part of their most formative period from private materials. Which means I wasn't as far behind them on that period of Swedish history.

There are Swedish records in America or the 1600s, and as I discovered, there are actually English and Spanish records recounting part of the deeds of intrepid Swedish explorers and surveyors as far back as 1598! We may well have more information about the Swedes back in the day than they do ~ just we don't have as many names to worry about.

There are three Swedish experiences in America ~ the 1600s and 1700s. Then there's the early 1800s, and the late 1800s. The earliest history focuses on the New Sweden Colony. They usually let you off the boat when it's just in Delaware, but pretty soon they moved to Eastern Pennsylvania, and by 1700 lived in York county. From there they spread due North, due South and Due West all the way across the country founding a string of stopping place called Uniontown ~ and variations on that name. It refers to the Kalmar Union. Swedish history starts there!

The early 1800 period is when people fled famine in Scandinavia. Parts were hit as early as 1812 with a Western extension of the massive drought that was also killing tens of millions in China. Since it occured at the same time as the Napoleonic wars no one particulary noticed it. At the same time Sweden was stripped of its European empire including Finland ~ Finland later lost the Kola to the Russians. The second period ~ late 1800s ~ is about economic collapse.

The Swedes could tell you that when you lose a big war and get your empire cut up into little bitty controllable hunks, life can get very tough. Previously existing authoritarian currents were simply strengthened!

The nail that sticks up will be hammered down!

I wonder how much of this Communist thinking is the result of Soviet agents who infiltrated Sweden during the Cold War? The Soviet Union thought that they could undermine the West with its Communist philosophy by infiltrating into the culture with its message. It looks like it worked in Sweden.

Monsters! Tearing a family apart because they committed the ‘crime’ of teaching their own child. The Swedish Supreme Court ought to be drawn and quartered!
