UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon appealed Sunday for restraint to avoid an escalation in the Syrian conflict, expressing "grave concern" over Israeli air strikes, AFP reported.
"The secretary-general calls on all sides to exercise maximum calm and restraint, and to act with a sense of responsibility to prevent an escalation of what is already a devastating and highly dangerous conflict," his spokesman Martin Nesirky said.
Nesirky said the United Nations was unable to independently verify the Israeli strikes, and had no details about them, but Ban "expresses grave concern over reports of air strikes in Syria by the Israeli Air Force."
"The secretary-general urges respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in the region, and adherence to all relevant Security Council resolutions," Nesirky said.

I will also express grave concern for the thousands killed by sarin gas in a major Israeli city. This is a great job. I can express grave concern about things, and say *tsk* *tsk* and they pay me! Not to mention the kovod. Boy, do I get kovod.
Ban Ki Moon is a fan of turning the other cheek. I’m not.
Maybe it’s time for Banki to go home to North Korea.
“The secretary-general urges respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in the region...”
Except, of course, Israel.
When the chemical weapons were killing people,
where was Ban Ki Moon????
folk off United Nations
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Nehaytu asked U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon for his exact GPS coordinates, so that he could send him his sincere apologies in personally.
whats he gonna say when its mushroom clouds in iran
More accurately, spreading both cheeks.
Maybe Ban can get the UN moved to Damascus?
My prayers and my hopes are with Israel. God bless Israel and her people.
Bunky needs to sit back, slap in a Psy CD and mind his own commie business.
Ban Ki-Moon ‘Gravely Concerned by IAF Strikes’
Boutros Boutros Golly
Koffi Anan (monkeys of the cloud)
Now Bonkey Moon.
Is it a job requirement for Secy Genl of the UN to be a despicable little fart eater? Or does it just help?
Jeeze, the UN is unhappy with Israel’s defense of its existence.
Mark this down as a red-letter day!
Hey Ban..do me a favor and go suck a lemon OK..Israel is doing the job Obama refuses to do cause he’s a giant douche..figures an Israel hater like Moon would have an issue with Israel defending itself
Sure, Moon guy wants Israel to shut up until they are all dead, then they won’t make any more noise.
Has he publicly expressed a “grave concern” about the recent unwelcome military intrusion by the Chinese into India?
If not, wouldnt it be fair to confront him with the issue of whether he has an agenda or even a bias regarding Israel?
The U.N. itself has no “respect for national sovereignty.”
China and India? Wait. That didn’t happen on TV. So it didn’t happen, and I don’t have to express any grave concern over it.
I’m “gravely concerned” that this corrupt moron is flapping his lips. He can shut up. It’s Israel’s business.
maybe he’ll send in the blue helmets to steal their lawn furniture
Was Bab Ki Moon “gravely concerned” by all the rockets and mortar missiles launched at Israel?
According to Wiki — “As of November 2012, over 2,256 rockets had been launched at Israel from Gaza since January 2012.”
My my isn't that precious. I'll bet the A-holes on the receiving end expressed a different sort of “grave concern” mainly about their own graves.
> Jeeze, the UN is unhappy with Israels defense of its existence.
Mark this down as a red-letter day!
Exactly and the UN can’t stand that they won’t bow down and appease the terrorists who are helping them facilitate their goal of forming a one world government.
When was the last time that we had a Secretary General from a Western nation?
Which nations contribute the most to the UN?
Anyone sees an incongruity here?
Kurt Waldheim (y'sh"v)?
I never seem to hear about Ban Ki-Moon or anyone at the UN being "Gravely Concerned" about rocket strikes going into Israel.
