Inhofe: DHS ammo grab to 'dry up' supply
Worldnet Daily ^ | May 5, 2013 | Drew Zahn

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., says he believes open purchase orders from the Department of Homeland Security to buy over 1 billion rounds of ammunition are part of an “intentional” effort by the Obama administration to “dry up the market” for gun-owning citizens.

“We have in this country the Second Amendment that preserves the right to keep and bear arms,” Inhofe told radio host Aaron Klein, “and the president doesn’t believe in that.”

I'd love to see someone - anyone - ask the Kenyan Klown how it is these agencies have all this money to spend on excessive ammo purchase with this horrible sequester going on.

Question: what if I were to pack my own bullets and sell them? I suppose I would need some kind of permit and stuff?

Will Benghazi and Fast & Furious bring Ubama down before he can start killing US citizens?

It's a race to the finish.

Duh...said this when I saw the first order of a couple hundred million rounds. It was pretty obvious that was what they were doing...putting most of us normal people out of the market.

Maybe I should be a congressman.

They are manipulating the market just like Wall Street execs do...creating shortages so demand goes up.

Where are you going to get the brass ? I have friends who are (re)loaders and they can’t even get brass, new or used in which to load for their own purposes let alone sell.

I would assume that you would need a standard D.B.A. permit to get into this business.

If you don’t make it yourself, you need a Type 07 FFL. The ATF part is pretty cheap and easy, about $150 license fee for three years. But, now you also have to register with the ITAR which costs upwards of $2K per year. If you want to reload and sell, you also need a remanufacturing license.

I don’t think this applies if it is just a private sale.

Wouldn't work. You are too intelligent. Pretty soon, there would be plotting behind your back to get rid of you.

Correction to the previous, you also need a Type 06 FFL license if you make it to sell but you don’t need it to resell something someone else has made (who has a type 06).

That is cheaper than the type 07, only $30/3 years.

"....what if I were to pack my own bullets and sell them?"

Bullets are to cartridges as flour is to bread as cement is to concrete as a fender is to an automobile, etc.

A cartridge is an assembly of multiple components known as the shellcase, primer, propellant powder and the bullet. Modern firearms are chambered for cartridges, not bullets. Bullets are those little thingies launched by a firearm that fly through the air until they impact a target or eventually fall to the ground. Multiple cartridges are known as ammunition.

That's what I've been saying all along. Building the Obama Stasi was the secondary goal. The primary goal was to corner the market on civilian ammunition.

Look at the clear pattern.

Obama orders all used military brass destroyed rather than sold to the civilian market.

Obama uses back channels to put pressure on private businesses to halt any involvement with the civilian gun market. See GE Capital, Bank of America, etc.

Buying up all the national ammo production capacity.

This has always been Obama’s end around plan to attack the Second Amendment. And, he's still actively trying to do this.

The power of the purse. Is sad republicans refuse to exercise the purse power. Many problems could be solved with zer0 and his end arounds.

Government can’t keep stockpiling millions of rounds more than it needs. There will be political and financial pressures that make it more and more difficult to continue. If this is meant to dry up the supply, what is their plan B? We will soon see because the stockpile is already too large.

Bull$hit. That’s not the reason. It causes manufacturers to produce more or to raise prices. It is not to dry up the supply.

When you choke off the front end of the supply chain (the raw materials) with regulations, etc...which is what many manufacturers have said...and then eat up the back end...then you successively dry up the chain.

The ammo producers can only produce so much when the federal government has restricted their access to raw goods.
