Getting a job or doing any labor is insulting for men in Chechen culture. “Chaban”=shepherd or a person who works for a living is a N-word there.
Real men has to live a “warrior life” or “off the road”.
Historically Chechens lived as a land version of Somalia pirates interdicting merchants travelling between Eastern Europe and Indochina&Middle East. It is actually a core of their relations with Russians who tried to secure these routes.
At home Chechens rely on their wifes and slave labor (up to this day). In Soviet period they mostly lived on welfare programs which is not near as extensive in modern Russia. It is OK if his wife works too as soon as a “warrior” husband doesn’t desecrate his hands with labor.
