The United States will "shortly" begin arming Syrian rebels, looking to boost moderate factions over al Qaida-affiliated extremists whose rise would be a national security "nightmare," the top Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee told CBS News on Tuesday.

What we should be doing is GIVING bunker buster bombs and ordnance to the Israelis in HUGE quantities. Instead we are arming the enemy. The Israelis could destroy Assad over night.
We need a prime directive like they have on Star Trek.. We don’t need to get involved in someone else’s internal affairs, especially a civil war.
As much as I despise Assad, the best we could hope for would be for him to hold power. It’s too bad he hurt Obama’s feelings, and now the region and the world will suffer with whatever worse government replaces him. I’m still hoping that Russia will save Assad and us - they are far less anti-American than Obama and his people are.

This is stupid. Arming one bunch of subhuman savages so they can fight other subhuman savages is stupid. When they finish trying kill each other, the arms are used against civilized countries.

In the middle east there aren’t any really good solutions. The current project will take down an Iranian ally and replace it with another Muslim Brotherhood government.
The only peace in the middle east continues to be the area occupied and defended by Israel.

Actually, We need to eliminate Syria. Syria is the principle Iranian surrogate. To eliminate that coalition is a great boon to the world. Iran is responsible for most of the current problems.
It seems to me that although the rebels have made great strides they are not able to complete the mission. The Turks and the gulf Arabs have provided the aid to date. Israel is a silent part of the rebel
coalition till this week. They have acted as others can not, in self defense.
The end game is in process and it is ok for us to provide something from the off shore stock piles.
In a perfect world, we’d eliminate Syria, Iran and a few other rogue nations as well, but that’s not going to happen. The al-Qaida rebels are far worse than Assad. Our realistic options are few, and helping al-Qaida come to power next door to Israel isn’t the answer.

Thats an interesting twist. It seems that the sarin gas cocktail mix is available to everyone. The Israelis are very nervous.Can’t blame them. Imagine missiles loaded with sarin gas exploding in the outskirts of Tel Aviv?
It would seem passingly strange that Assad would be stupid enough to order the deployment of sarin gas, but maybe the so called rebels did indeed get their hands on a storage facility of Saddam Husseins sarin gas cocktail mix( the ingrediants have to be mixed and after mixing the liquid form of sarin is unstable and deteriorates over time, has to be used within 60 days.)
IMHO the sarin cocktail mix originated in Iraq with the Saddam Hussein regime, and was trucked out of Iraq, just prior to the coalitions invasion of Iraq, by the Russians and French who had been trading oil for various WMDs.Now the gas ingrediants are on Israel’s doorstep and Obama does not seem to interested in stopping their deployment, although apparently the US did give the Israelis satellite intel to interdict the sarin gas supply route and missiles going to Hezbollah in Lebanaon.Its only a matter of time before sarin gas is deployed against Israel, and when that happens, the Israelis will strike Iran.Obama is not supplying Israel with the necessary bunker buster bombs, as far as we know.This should be really HUGE news at this point.
Your theory of the Sunnis and Shiites killing each other off is proving to be accurate. The only thing that would unite them is war against Israel.Obama has almost achieved his personal goal of setting the scene for the ultimate destruction of Israel, by attack from the North, East and South, as well as the West( Gaza), using Sarin gas and other WMDs.Libyas arsenal has also been distributed to the enemies of Israel.
Things are about to get very hot in the ME.
