N.J. Gov. Christie looks to slim down with secret stomach surgery

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie underwent lap band surgery in February in hopes of losing some weight for his family — fueling additional speculation that he is trying to slim down for a 2016 presidential bid.

The New York Post reported Tuesday that Mr. Christie said his friends and family helped convinced him to have the operation and that the Republican decided to have the procedure after turning 50 years old in September.

“I’ve struggled with this issue for 20 years,” Mr. Christie told The Post. “For me, this is about turning 50 and looking at my children and wanting to be there for them.”

He makes this sound like a mid-life crisis deal...wonder if he's going to buy a red Corvette?

Oh, that'll be about 200 pounds from now.

Yeah, because Christie was beginning to resemble the government that the republican establishment wants to put him in charge of: big, fat, and out of control (as was once said of Tip O’Neil).

A lot of the success depends on the type of surgery. You can out eat and gain on any of them but there are drastic differences in the success rates between the various types. I had my surgery almost 8 years ago and still wear size 8 jeans.

I’m still a food addict, but my surgery still fights a good part of the battle for me.

From the article:

"“A week or two ago, I went to a steakhouse and ordered a steak and ate about a third of it and I was full,” Mr. Christie told The Post."

Slow learner, that Chris Christie.

I doubt very much he’s doing this for anything other than his public image, if or not he runs for Pres. He will continue in politics and likely an eye on a position in Washington.... and knows his weight gets in the way.

Yes, he’s a democrat who is not afraid to take on democrat organizations to push his policy. He is excellent in addressing the education pension problems. Beyond that, he’s left of center on most issues. He’s actually relatively good on abortion issues, but terrible on guns, terror, etc.

If/after he loses the weight you can bet your bottom dollar that he will be like the idiot in New York or Mochelle except on steroids about everyone’s weight in NJ.

The “I did it, so can you” mentality seems to set in.

>>He obviously struggles with his weight...

Actually, it looks like he hasn’t struggled a bit.

>>...for a lot of people, it isn’t simply a matter of eating better and exercising more.

No, it’s about eating LESS and exercising SOME.

Right! We missed the obvious. Here it is online and in the press, splattered like blueberry syrup spread over a tall stack of pancakes with fried catfish (all-you-can-eat).

Some secret. Well, it should be apparent if it works...shirley before he succombs.

There is virtually not a single position he has taken that I would agree with as a real conservative. I hope his operation goes well but I’d as soon he became a democrat or disappeared forever - total negative for conservatives and freedom loving American patriots.

He has young children. He looked like a heart attack waiting to happen. I know he’s politically ambitious, too. You’re right about that.

The “I did it, so can you” mentality seems to set in.

Seems to me that many of the (famous) persons who dieted and lost weight are paid endorsers.

Now, as for us ex-smokers, you are spot on. Some of us suffer from that irritating mentality or something.

secret stomach surgery

He had his gag reflex removed so that he could praise Obama without involuntarily spewing bile all over the podium...

Wonder if he's using the same surgeon as Michelle?? Once the weight is gone, they have to cut the "stretched skin" off.

If he didn't eat like a pig, he wouldn't look like a pig.
