Santa Clara's Mission College went into lockdown for about 45 minutes Monday afternoon after a cardboard cutout of a gun was mistaken for the real thing, a school spokesman said.
As part of a sociology of criminology class project where students were to dress up as criminals, one student wore a ski mask and carried a cardboard cutout of a gun, school spokesman Peter Anning said.
The student was taking pictures before the class began when another student panicked and called Santa Clara police at 2:47 p.m. to report a person with a gun, he said.
Mission College went into lockdown at 2:53 p.m.

If I were the student (I was a brat), tomorrow, I would make a cardboard cutout of a pressure cooker or maybe bring in a pressure cooker full of hot wings to share at lunch.
Ah, I recall back in the day, many moons ago when a group of us decided to head over to another dorm complex dressed up as gangsters.
We bought some toy water guns – back in those days they were still black – and dressed in some long black coats and hats. We ran around the other dorm squirting people with water. No one had a major problem with or even called the campus police. And certainly, no one shut the place down and sent in the SWAT team…..
I can only imagine what would have happened these days…..

Obviously a white bread school. In my kids’ school, they would have known how to conceal such a ‘weapon’.

These are Buckwheat’s Rambos who will go door-to-door confiscating weapons in every house, according to some FReepers. They are 10-feet tall, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound and fire cop-killer bullets out their arses and hit the target at 1,000 yards.
You could paint a road cone green with a red star and tell people it was a nuclear warhead and you could shut down an entire city. People are that stupid.
