Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee: Constitution implies a right to health care, education
The Washington Times ^ | May 7, 2013 | Douglas Ernst

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee took to the House floor Monday night and implied that the right to health care and education exists in the Constitution.

Ms. Jackson Lee, Texas Democrat, also made the case that the moral authority for such services is also derived from the Declaration of Independence.

“One might argue that education and health care fall into those provisions of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” she said.

Anything could be implied. But does it say the Taxpayer shall furnish it?
I think the Liberals have misconstrued basic rights with entitlements.

You have the right to free speech but I’m not required to listen. You have the right to bear arms but I don’t have to buy you a glock. You have the right to be free from unreasonable search but I’m not required to buy you a deadbolt lock.

Rights are things you can do, not something involving the services of a third party. That party has the right not to do those things. There is no right to another man’s work.

I need a Gulfstream G-IV to be happy...

So I guess the Constitution guarantees such for me?

Send the bill to Ms. Lee, since this is her idea.

She is the stupid person from Texas we have here. Will someone else take her for a while? I cannot believe that we do not mandate simple IQ test for elected officials, but then none of the current crop would be there.

Sooo, what’s that make her constituents who keep voting for her?”

You could easily figure out the answer to that question by just driving through her District. A few years ago there was a White guy running for Mayor who, among other things, pledged to make City Hall more efficient. One of the City employees who was interviewed said she wasn’t voting for him because her Representative (Lee) told her that that meant her job would be gone if he was elected and SJL was the only one who really cared about the people in their District.

Houston has a gay Democrat Mayor, Democrat Chief of Police, Quanelle X and Sheila. Just four of the many reasons I moved out of the City.

I have read some scrawlings of supposed intellectuals that actually do say a right isn’t a right if you can’t avail yourself of it, especially for financial reasons.

In other words, they do indeed believe that anything that is a “right” has to be “free”.

>>“One might argue that education and health care fall into those provisions of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” she said.

One might argue that...if one is STUPID!! People certainly have a RIGHT to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They do not have a RIGHT to take other people’s life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness to get it FREE.

For a working person, taxes represent the confiscation of money earned by trading a portion of their finite life for money. Every dollar I pay in taxes represents a period of time that is taken from my life to earn that dollar. If I want to exercise the LIBERTY to PURSUE HAPPINESS, her gummint will confiscate a portion of my LIFE to pay for some troglodyte’s lifestyle.

Free the slaves Rep. Lee!!
