NEWTOWN People who seek change in gun laws following the Dec. 14 Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings shouldnt get frustrated at the pace of progress because one way or another, change will come, speakers said Tuesday night in a gun violence panel discussion at Newtown High School.
I have no doubt that change is coming, said Dave Ackert, founder and chairman of the Newtown Action Alliance, which organized the Whats Next in Gun Legislation? panel discussion.
Within three days of the U.S. Senate failing to pass an expanded background checks compromise bill, the alliance began a Shame on Congress initiative, complete with its own http://shameoncongress.org website.
The 45 senators who voted against the bill rendered themselves irrelevant, he said.
We will reward and stand proudly with those who legislate based on fact, and one of those facts is that more people die in states with looser gunlaws, Ackert said.
We will shame those lawmakers who oppose change and we will replace them, he said.
First Selectwoman Patricia Llodra, who arrived from another meeting and spoke briefly near the end, said that never again will we turn away from our obligation.
But to achieve change, we have to be prepared to be in the fight for the long haul, Llodra said. We know that change is going to be incremental. ... If we really want change, we will need to be in the forefront for a very long time.

Didn’t we just go over the fact that more people are murdered in states where the government is unconcerned with the right of self-defense ~ states just like Connecticut, and say, didn’t they just have another mass murder!
Another Government funded false flag bunch! Do these mooks ever work?
It appears as though the Newtown crowd are turning this shooting into a jobs program. Hey! It beats having to work for a living.
LOL. change is coming, alright. Their gun laws are becoming as meaningless as all the rest of their laws.
I don’t know of any legislation that can keep crazed maniacs from flipping out and killing people.
Before that happens you commies in CT... we will change the number of states in the republic... savvy?!
.....Look for any new laws to be STRUCK DOWN down the road at the fed court level.
Would an expanded background check stopped the Newtown murders?
These communists in CT are jumping the shark.
Well then....using facts, Chicago has draconian gun laws and an extremely high murder rate. So yes, lets legislate based on fact. Curbing the ownership of guns causes more deaths.
Mr. Ackert and Ms. Llodra,
You are welcome to come try and take them.
I could go for it if a new law would have actually prevented the killings, but we know that this is just an excuse to add more do-nothing laws that are designed not to prevent future massacres but to amass power in the hands of the politicians.
