Cleveland’s Castro brothers ignore taunts during first night in jail
ny daily news ^ | 5/8/2013 | RICH SCHAPIRO , CHELSIA ROSE MARCIUS

The nasty taunts of fellow inmates didn’t stop the Castro brothers from sleeping like babies.

The notorious siblings suspected of holding three young women hostage for a decade in a Cleveland home were housed Wednesday in separate cells — where they brushed off jailhouse insults.

“They seem relaxed,” said a guard at the Central Prison Unit at the Cleveland Police Headquarters. “Mostly they’ve just been sleeping with their heads under the pillows like they don’t want to be bothered.”

A fellow inmate said Ariel Castro, 52, owner of the house where the women were held in chains and ropes, was the target of vitriol from other prisoners.

“They were screaming at him all night,” said the 20-year-old ex-prisoner after his release. “He was just laying there, taking it. They were saying, ‘Don’t feed that rapist! He doesn't deserve any respect!’”

I want these guys hanged if they are found guilty.

But for the life of me, I can't understand so-called conservatives calling for sodomy rape as punishment. It's sodomy. It's rape. What part of that is conservative?

I agree. That being said I have no trouble executing them by flamethrower. After a fair trial, of course. We are not savages.

Im all for these pricks to receive the same punishment he gave to his victims..sometimes in certain cases its justifiable..Ariel Castro is the devil, if he gets it in prison, I wont shed a tear

Word is just in that the two brothers won’t be prosecuted; there’s no evidence against them.

I'm ok with flamethrower, too, if it's a judicial punishment.

What some freepers are calling for is extra-judicial punishment prior to conviction. Punishment that is forbidden by scripture.

None of that seems conservative to me.

God have mercy on you.

Extra-judicial punishment is literally outlaw, as is punishment before conviction.

There was that story a few years ago about a man in Austria who had a woman imprisoned in a basement “apartment” and had children with her.

Actually worse than that, if it's possible. The guy was her father, and she gave birth to half a dozen children who were imprisoned with her.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fritzl_case

In the Marc Dutroux case in Belgium two young girls starved to death in their basement prison when Marc was imprisoned on another charge. Then it very much appears that powerful people in Belgium covered up aspects of the case, which is extremely disturbing on a number of levels. At least it doesn't (presently) appear that anybody in USA is likely to defend guys doing this stuff. If somebody tries and gets caught, he's on his way to jail or at minimum out of public life.

Though, as always, claims of conspiracy, even in Belgium which is sorta French, should be taken with a grain of sodium chloride.

If he is convicted he deserves whatever punishment the law provides..doesn’t mean I have to not wish him the worst possible hell in prison

‘As a general rule, pedophile rapists are not the most popular guys in prison.’

Especially around guys named Bubba.

I think that those calling for it are thinking an eye for eye.

It’s also an anonymous internet forum so there’s little fear of those thoughts sticking to them personally.

I’m as much disturbed by how graphic their depictions are, like they’ve thought about it just a little too much. Downright creepy, actually.

“I want these guys hanged if they are found guilty.”

At this point, with no bodies (yet), they are not eligible for Ohio’s death penalty.

People commit cruel and unusual crimes. The Constitution says we can't retaliate with cruel and unusual punishments.

There's a reason for that. Cruelty corrodes the soul.

Under the rule of law, he should serve whatever punishment the court orders. However, he MUST be protected from crimes within the prison. Including sodomy rape. Otherwise, we have a rule of emotion, and not of law.

Works for me, if that's what the courts decide. I'd be happy to set the charges for that uplifting experience.

And I do agree with you that prisoners and the condemned should be protected. Try them with adequate legal representation, and when found guilty, drag them by the hair to a dirt lot, shoot them, and toss them in a hole. No fuss, no muss.

We’ve got ourselves a country where degenerates and murderers are better protected by the state than ordinary citizens, and where concern for their well being is so deep as seen above.

Word just in that only Ariel will be charged and his two upstanding pieces of excrement bros will not be.

Now lemme get this straight....they bore witness to and watched and probably participated in the horrific offenses against these women...but that’s not a crime. Umm...accessory to the fact? Seriously...something isn’t right here.
