British physicist Stephen Hawking has confirmed that he will not be attending the Presidential Conference in Israel because he is joining an academic boycott of the Jewish state.
The University of Cambridge released a statement late Wednesday saying that Hawking had told the Israelis last week that he would not be attending "based on advice from Palestinian academics that he should respect the boycott."
Earlier, the university said that news reports saying Hawking was boycotting the conference were wrong, and that the noted physicist's decision to cancel his visit to Israel stemmed from health reasons alone.

I have thought for a while that Hawking is, if not an idiot-svant, just not very bright outside of physics. His writings about God are absolutely juvenile.
His original book said nobody could possibly use the mathmatics leading to the singularity, (or the big bang) to say that God didn’t exist. He said nobody could possibly know anything about the time before the singularity.
This year, he said differently, but just as a change of mind opinion/conclusion. He offered no new math to explain his change.
His mind is going downhill. 30 years ago, his mind was sharp. But he has lost it and is now just a celebrity. And this is not unique. Most insane math and physics leaps were done by people in their younger years. That process has to be even more pronounced with his unhealthy body.
He is now firmly in the province of punchlines and Sagan style science.
For someone who is supposedly so smart, he sure is stupid.
In boycotting Israel, Hawking is like that crippled dwarf, Josef Goebbels.

He needs to make his mind up. Per previous thread , is he boycotting his computor. Does he commit to boycotting Israeli medical breakthroughs as they relate to his health.

Funny thing is, Israel is a secular State. Newton would have enough sense to figure that out that Islam is destructive, unlike that PC crippled idiot savant.
Hawking took the advice of an enemy of Israel as the basis of his decision.
One would have thought he’d have at least searched out the facts as he could find them and make a decision based on what he had come to know.
He might still have come down with his bigoted decision, but at least he could have claimed that he looked into it and that was where he came down.
Very feeble to say he took an Israeli enemy’s word and ran with that.
