Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz welcomed President Obama to the Texas Thursday, where Obama is scheduled to begin his "Middle Class Jobs and Opportunity Tour," by highlighting Texas' job record in comparison with the administration's.

"America is stuck with high unemployment and low GDP growth, so it's encouraging to see the President coming to Austin to talk about jobs - perhaps he will learn how to create some from the folks who know how," Cruz said in a statement.

"Texas is leading the nation in economic growth and job creation because of principled, conservative leaders who understand the keys to economic success are lower, flatter taxes, limited government and restrained spending,' he added. "Texas has shown the country how it's done, and we hope the President will take some of these lessons back to Washington to bring true economic recovery to our nation."

Please tell me he actually knows ObaDepressionPhaseTwo is not really trying to fix jobs.

Did you not hear Cruz slice and dice Harry Reid by "commending" his "candor"?

Cruz is the master of ironic sarcasm. His comments are deft insults to Obama, which Obama well knows.

You are correct that gun companies would be a very small part of the growth in Texas. The oil patch would be large but that also dominoes over into other sectors. If you are interest in Texas business growth here are some links via google to look at. Take care.

Texas business growth

Here's an example of growth between 2002 - 2011 by sector.

High oil prices also help

Are you a Texan?

Do you think it has everything to do with oil and nothing to do with a State Government that maintains a budget and is Pro business?

All States have their industry, but not all State Governments will keep their greasy hands off the majority of profit.

"Are you a Texan?"

No I grew up in Louisiana, also an oil state.

Do you think it has everything to do with oil and nothing to do with a State Government that maintains a budget and is Pro business?

Can you read? Did I say "Nothing to do" I said "more to do" with oil. Not all or nothing. Certainly low taxes and regs help. But oil is the main driver.

That’s chart is a little misleading in that’s its 10 years that ended in 2012. 38,000 oil jobs were added in Texas in the year 2012-2013. It’s not that the chart is wrong. It’s just not representative of where the growth is now.

And the health jobs are driven more by Federal spending and demographics than anything else.
