Somebody wanted it. Just look what happens when they actually try to cut something.

Did you? Did anyone you know want the government to spend us to the brink of insolvency?

My dad used to say that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. That's who cries out when they try to cut something. And, we know who the squeaky wheel is.

I hear ya. But everybody wants something ELSE cut. "Their" thing is always crucial. One man's pork, etc.

To wit:

There is a bipartisan push to spend an extra $436 million on upgrades to the Abrams tank even though senior Army officials have repeatedly said they don't want or need them.

Lawmakers from both parties have devoted nearly half a billion dollars in taxpayer money over the past two years to build improved versions of the 70-ton Abrams. Keeping the Abrams production line rolling protects businesses and good-paying jobs in congressional districts in Ohio.

The tanks are built at a plant in Lima, Ohio, owned by the federal government but operated General Dynamics Corp. Ohio politicians, as well as more than 170 across the nation, are lining up to support the increased spending on the tanks that the Army doesn't want. U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, a Republican, and U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, a Democrat, both support the new funds, as does U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, Urbana.

Interesting. Congress keeps pushing stuff on DOD that they say they don’t want.

I have another one for you. If you can find it, get a copy of an HBO film called “The Pentagon Wars”. That one makes Congress look frugal.
