Ron Paul is robo-calling his supporters to sign a petition against the inclusion of a National ID card in immigration reform negotiations. From the petition:
Right now, freedom-stealing Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY), banding together with other statists from both parties, are scheming to sneak a massive power grab into a new “immigration reform” bill.
If passed, it would require every American to obtain a National ID card to work legally in the U.S. – and you can bet it will be only a matter of time until they’re required even for simple purchases.
Ron Paul calls the current proposals “by far the worst national ID card the statists have come up with yet.” And he blames the “Gang of 8,” which includes Lindsey Graham, John McCain, and Chuck Schumer, for working with Obama to “sneak a national ID” into an immigration reform bill. ”A statist’s dream,” Paul decries.
According to Paul, the national ID would create a new federal database with biometric information on all citizens and those who work within the United States. He claims that, in short time, it would be illegal for anyone to have a job without an ID card. “Every time any citizen applies for a job, the government will know…[and] once the government bureaucrats know exactly how we run our lives, they will try and control them.”
He warns that “the government will know what you eat, drink, and read. Once they know this information, they will regulate everything” from your food to your education, depriving us of our freedom. Issues like amnesty are just being used as cover. The National ID is what the “statists” really want.
Gee, maybe the “Open Borders” Libertarians will finally wake up to see this bill is crap.
Yeah, but open borders Paul wants the bill passed anyway.
Just listened to Mark Levin who had Chris Crane (sp?), ICE Union President on, who stated that LaRaza is EMBEDDED in ICE.
No going back if they turn Texas and Arizona commie-blue with dem-voting locusts.
Chris Crane also said that no member of the gang of 8 besides Rubio would meet with him about his concerns.
Isn't it already illegal to enter the country and to obtain a job? How is that working out?

Open letter to my Congressman and Senators,
I would like to inform you of how your crazy legislation is working here in the real world in WV.
My mother will be 86 years old this year. My hobby is genealogy and I can document her ancestry through US citizens back to the 1700’s. She has been trying for months without success to RENEW her photo ID. She is required by law to have her retirement income direct deposited to the bank; but she no longer has a photo ID to write a check. Therefore, she is denied access to her funds in places that require ID, which is most of them.
Her father died in a mining accident in April, 1927, shortly after she was conceived. He and her teenage mother were not married. The doctor registered her birth on 12-31-1927 with the County Clerk, however he listed no name for her. The County Clerk and the State Dept of Vital Statistics will not issue a birth certificate without her name. That certificate would be of no use anyway because after her mother married, my mother was enrolled in school with her stepfather’s last name without being legally adopted. The DMV tells me this is not an uncommon situation for people born back then.
My Mom entered school and graduated from high school in 1945. She married in 1946, had five children, worked, and paid taxes until she was 69 years old. She draws a pension and social security. She has owned real estate and paid property taxes since 1951. Up until now, she was able to prove her identity and obtain a photo ID with a census record, marriage certificate, and her school records.
Under the new Homeland Security laws you have passed, she cannot renew her photo ID. My Mom doesn’t drive, but if she wanted to, she would be denied this privilege. Without an ID, she is not allowed to travel except by automobile. She enjoys shopping, but stores will no longer accept her checks without a photo ID.
The state DMV told us to take all her evidence, census record, school records (transcripts and her HS yearbook with her photo), marriage certificate, etc. and explain her situation to a supervisor. The local DMV supervisor refused.
Please explain the LOGIC and JUSTIFICATION for passing laws which affect WE THE PEOPLE in such a manner. Does no one in Washington have enough common sense and knowledge of the English language to write provisions covering these situations, since the DMV says there are many folks from that era in this same shape?
I read that there are 30 million people in this country illegally. I am a GED teacher. We have lots of foreign students, many of whom are not citizens. A photo ID is required to take the test. How do these folks obtain photo ID’s to drive, work, travel, have bank accounts, get healthcare, food, and housing assistance when my senior citizen mother that had one for years cannot renew it?
MY point is that laws won’t prevent people from working illegally.
What’s a drivers license and social security card?
It’s government laws that force banks and other places to require a state ID.

Counterfeiters working full time counterfeiting green cards, driver license, social security and about anything else you want. What ever they come out with won't be worth two cents.
