The top Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is accusing Republicans of distorting the remarks of a star witness testifying before the panel this week on Benghazi.
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), sent letter to Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) on Friday asking that omitted portions of Gregory Hicks’s testimony be added to the record.
“I thank Mr. Hicks for coming forward, for working with our investigators, and for providing his testimony to the Committee,” Cummings said in a statement. “Unfortunately, some have attempted to distort and manipulate what Mr. Hicks actually told the Committee. I believe this additional information will help clarify and complete the official record.”
A Foreign Service officer and the No. 2 on the ground in Libya the night of the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Bengahzi, Hicks added fuel to the Benghazi controversy being pushed by Republicans against the administration and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
On Friday, Cummings provided several additional details of Hicks pre-hearing interview that were omitted from the record and counter claims that State officials tried to keep him from speaking with Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah). Instead, Cummings points to portions of the interview where Hicks says he was told to ensure an attorney was present if he spoke to Chaffetz.
In the omitted portion of the transcript, Hicks says the only thing he was warned about was not revealing “part of the FBI investigation or privileged to the FBI investigation.”
Cummings also highlights portions of the transcript that were omitted from the committee’s record in which Hicks says he was never told to withhold additional information.

I wish Maryland could shed itself of idiots like Cummings, Hoyer, Mikulski and Cardin, but unfortunately we have a population filled with Democrats wearing blinders.
If we painted a face on a portable toilet and placed it on the ballot as a Democrat it would get elected.

Hicks stated that the Special Forces guys were getting in the car when he got a call which ordered to stand down but he has not said who ordered it. He said the got a call from Hillary then got a second call that ordered the “no go”. WHO ordered the “no go”? He never said who. Why wasn’t he asked?
Sorry Cummings but it is not anyone distorting his remarks that is the problem. The problem is that Obama and Clinton are lying sacs of crap.

His attempt may very well fool his (Holder’s) people, did he also blame it was Bush or Romney that made him say it?
