Every Sunday, there are brass bands marching through different parts of New Orleans. It’s a tradition that goes back to the 19th century in New Orleans. The people who follow the parade - alongside the band, on the wide avenues - are called the Second Line.
It’s incredibly beautiful, both visually and musically. I have been there and done it.
Right after Katrina the south side of Atlanta had "Reelect Ray Nagan" billboards all over. We got our fair share of the debris.
The band has between ten and twenty people. The spectators are not passively ”watching the parade” - they are following alongside the parade, as an adjacent march.

I have been there many times and participated in numerous public events without ever having the slightest problem.
I’ve heard of that in other cities too.
It is one of the pillars of America’s cultural identity.

as one who has given money and time to the people effected by Katrina, maybe time would be better spent building up the community and working to make an honest living than running around and hijacking parades in an endless party.. just a thought from a taxpayer who’s been funding the party..
