DEVELOPING: New Orleans police are searching for three suspects Sunday after at least 12 people were shot during a Mothers Day parade.
Chief Serpas announced in a press conference that the youngest victim is believed to be a 10-year-old girl. Police say she suffered a graze wound, WVUE Fox 8 reported.
Police say about 300 were attending the traditional jazz band parade when shots were fired.
Serpas said that the procession had been accompanied by officers, who saw two or three suspects run from the scene in the city's 7th Ward.
Nobody has been arrested. It's unclear what sparked the gunfire.

Poor shot. Either a drunk or a democrat.
Definately not NRA, which liberals will all claim as if on queue.
NOLA; natch. Wonder what Chicago’s stats for the day are?
There’s a difference?
7th ward neighborhood profile.
If baraq had a NOLA family..
how about a drunk democrat??
No descriptions of the suspects?
That might help.
Each suspect has two arms and two legs, much like these people:
Bipedal locomotion with bilateral symmetry. That should narrow it down a little.
Mother's Day is much less confusing than Father's Day; for true!!
Well, it was a "traditional jazz band" parade.
I was SO surprised! I was expecting the yellow part to be the Amish!
Is New Orleans a gun-free zone?
Don’t take your guns to town, boy.
Unless you want to bust up a shooting spree.
That is Not funny!!! I did not laugh at that!! I am not laughing now. Really....I am not!!! Not funny.....snerk.
A social club called The Original Big 7 organized Sunday’s event. The group was founded in 1996 at the Saint Bernard housing projects, according to its MySpace page.
The neighborhood where the shooting happened was a mix of low-income and middle-class row houses, some boarded up. As of last year, the neighborhood’s population was about 60 percent of its pre-Hurricane Katrina level.
Honestly, the Amish shouldn’t be demonized, but the community has enough issues that deviate from a commitment to a lifestyle of peace and non-violence it shouldn’t exactly be glorified IMO either....they are human and as such you will run the gamut.
Poor shot. Either a drunk or a democrat.
In our world of political correctness, lack of description is as important as description - and euphemisms take the place of facts.
Where there is a lack of suspect description, you can be reasonably sure it is a minority - probably black. If it is a terrorism type event and the media provide no description - the offender is probably a Muslim. If the story is about political crimes and no party affiliation is mentioned - you can be near 100% certain the bad guy/girl is a Democrat. These rules are not perfect and the media often get the story wrong initially, but they are a pretty good guide.
inured - past participle, past tense of in·ure (Verb)
1. Accustom (someone) to something, esp. something unpleasant.
2. Come into operation; take effect: “a release given to one of two joint contractors inures to the benefit of both”.
Y'all not gonna believe whose name I came across in the comments section of the 'Click for more from ..' link at the bottom of the page of Sovereign's original link posted above.
Anyone remember Michael Rivero ?
Surprisingly, his posted comment was actually reasonable .. assuming, of course, that it IS FR's late inimitable MR !
time warp LOL
Only CBS is reporting the race of the shooters. All of the other media are editing it out of their reports.
Police are looking for three suspects, one of which was described the suspect as a dark skin male, 18-22 years old with short hair, a white shirt and blue jeans. All suspects are still on the loose.
These dudes need to be given a free marksmanship training session at a Federal Law Enforcement Training center. Food stamps, Obamaphone, handgun training.
this is in the hood, all black neighborhood, all black victims , shooters black , just the regular goings on in the hood.no one died but the news media made it sound like another adam lanza mass shooting. most probably drug or gang related , due to the welfare state( they all get welfare here)
I’ve seen one of these guys in action close up and very personal. They don’t aim—they have a gun in each hand and just spray bullets in the general direction of their target. They will probably never be caught, at least not this time. Chances are they will be the targets next time because you can be sure someone in that crowed knew who they were. That was a 2nd line parade, by the way, a grand old tradition, and it’s a travesty to attack the participants.
You owe me a new keyboard!
statistics, probability ,look it up
yes an Adam Lanza sounds bad, but dying by lightning is many times more common than by mass shooter. probability ,something tiny brains can't comprehend
well let me make it simple . you don't blame all Americans for the actions of a few nuts like Adam Lanza, you don't take away all individual rights.
yes criminal murder is more common than mass shootings but still rare even thought the media doesn't make it seem’ like it is( a new study shows gun murders down etc.). most murders are black on black drug related crime in the hood.
Chances are they will be the targets next time because you can be sure someone in that crowed knew who they were.
Pretty sure someone knows them and with the cell phones today I bet there are videos of the event.
The following is a couple of links to photos of the area. The first one is, WRAL 15 photos, mostly police, etc and crime scene shots.
The second one, NOLA 10 photos, has a little more actual footage from the event as it was occurring as there was reporter in the area at the time. Click the arrow to scroll:
Deal with it just like I do every single day.
First off this was black on black retaliation. It’s how things are done in N.O. Second- this is how every holiday is celebrated- ‘second line’ means shooting line. Every thug knows that if you want to kill a rival or someone who ‘disrespected’ you, you wait till they parade down the street, or stand around watching parades, providing easy targets. The constantly amazing thing is that all natives know this- especially shooters or potential victims-yet they STILL offer themselves up as targets and are surprised when the bullets start flying. Talk about slow learners.
Top it all off with the tourists being lured to such ‘ambiance’ and the ‘funky streets’ and it’s like bringing blind children to a pack of feeding lions.
The streets of N.O. are a HUNTING GROUND. The predominant culture is feral. This stuff happens because the dominant population LIKES it.
If they celebrated Mothers Day is a sane, civilized way these people wouldn’t be shot.Give mom a present, a nice dinner...but no. There has to be drunken gyrating. Father’s day is non-existent, of course, but the insistence of celebrating everything with a booze-filled,raucous flash mob going down the street is what helps make the whole, backward, deteriorating sewer that is New Orleans a shooting gallery. It’s NORMAL here, folks! If you value your life, stay out of New Orleans. I do.
I know who Rivero is...if he is the idiot with a radio show who is ten times worse than Alex Jones or Jeff Rense. The dude is anti-Jew. I did read up on him a lot and I did know he once was on this site. he moved to Republic Broadcasting network after Rense kicked him off his network following Jones and his syndicator GCN dumping Rivero.
if any do try I'm ready and armed though
media is trying to make it seem like another adam lanza. it's not just black on black drug crime
I take it as a regular garden variety inner city shooting.
Yes that’s what it is
If it is more “religion of peace” I suggest we deport all of them
I signed up here in '98 as 'stepdad' and mostly lurked for the first year or so, then had to be off the net awhile for some surgery in early '00.
By the time I got back my password had gone down the sometimer's hole, hence 'tomkat'.
If memory serves, most of MR's conspiracy looniness, or at least the goundwork for whatever it was that finally got him booted, was during my hiatus.
Anyway, I got a chuckle seeing his name pop up out of the blue like that .. kinda like an Elvis sighting .. LOL
That’s heavy, dude.
And only 12, too. What does it take to make people jaded these days ??
The other thread got pulled...
I’m betting it wasn’t NRA members.

NOPD Arrests 2 Brothers in Shootings at Second Line Last Sunday
New Orleans Police and US Marshals have arrested two brothers and booked them in the shootings that caused chaos during a second-line last Sunday, with 19 people injured by bullets, and one woman hurt as she was trying to flee the area.
NOPDs Fifth District detectives were able to develop 19-year-old Akein Scott as a gunman the very next day after the shooting, and last night just after 10pm, Scott was tracked to a residence in the 7500-block of Kingsport Drive. He was taken into custody without incident.
Scott was charged with 20 counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder, and is now being held on $10-million dollars bond.
Investigators also learned that four people were aware that Akein Scott was wanted for this shooting, but didnt turn him in, and instead, provided him comfort and aid. These individuals were also picked up during the night. They are 32-year-old Nekia Youngblood, 22-year-old Bionca Hickerson, 28-year-old Brandy George and 19-year-old Justin Alexander. All four are charged with Accessory After the Fact of Attempted Second Degree murder and Relative to Obstruction of Justice by Harboring a Fugitive.
And finally, through further investigation, detectives learned that 24-year-old Shawn Scott, Akeins big brother, also participated in this crime. Officers headed out again at 7 this morning, and located Shawn Scott in the 9600-block of Haynes Boulevard. He attempted to flee out of the back door of a residence, but was quickly apprehended. Shawn Scott is also booked with 20-counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder.
NOPD has information indicating that both Scott brothers are members of the gang that calls itself the Frenchmen and Derbigny Boys.
Akein Scott was previously arrested for Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Resisting an Officer, Contraband to Jail, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon While in Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Heroin.
Shawn Scott currently has 4 warrants out for his arrest, including Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled, Dangerous Substance and traffic attachments. He was currently on parole for Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin and Possession of Cocaine until 12/2015.
Shawn Scott was previously arrested for Resisting an Officer, Criminal Trespass, traffic violations, Possession of Marijuana, Warrants, Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Heroin and attachments.
Justin Alexander has been previously arrested for Distribution of a Schedule 1 Narcotic, Distribution of a Control Dangerous Substance within 1000 feet of a School. He also has an outstanding Municipal Court Attachment.
Nekia Youngblood has been previously arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
The identification, pursuit and arrest of Akein Scott and Shawn Scott makes it clear that we will not accept the culture of death and violence in our city,” said Mayor Mitch Landrieu. “I want to thank the New Orleans Police Department and all the local, state and federal agencies who assisted in the capture and all the residents who remained vigilant and provided tips. The people of New Orleans made this happen because as a community we have said enough is enough. The rules of the game have changed on the streets of New Orleans, and we will not let up. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with all of the victims.
Im incredibly proud of this police department for the swift, excellent work it has done on this case. It truly is an honor to work with the men and women who contributed to this effort, working around the clock to take control of this situation, said Superintendent Ronal Serpas.
The Fifth District lead detectives- Robert Hurst, Rayell Johnson and Sergeant Gary Lacabe, did an extraordinary job. And they had an exemplary leader in Commander Chris Goodly and Lieutenant Chris Hart.
Its also important to thank all members of the US Marshals Fugitive task Force, which includes all local, state and federal agency law enforcement partners. Their help is invaluable to us.
We are seeing a game-changing attitude in New Orleans. By using CrimeStoppers to anonymously and safely report information to police, the fear and intimidation that gangs try to inflict on this community- are becoming things of the past. Together, the people of New Orleans and their police force are in control, working together and making New Orleans a safer place, Serpas said.
