Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) will not run for Senate in 2014.
[O]ur assessment at this point is the House is the battleground for politics in this country right now, Price told the Marietta Daily Journal. [T]hats where well be offering for reelection in 2014.
His decision to stay out of the race suggests that Karen Handel, the former secretary of state and an ally of Price, will launch a campaign.
Reps. Jack Kingston, Paul Broun and Phil Gingrey are all already in the race.

Georgia US Senate race. Price is bowing out, and instead will remain a proxy vote for Speaker Boehner.
Kingston is a corrupt DC insider. I wish he had to quit as a congressman to run for the Senate. Then if he lost, we’d finally be shed of him.
congressman = representative
Technically, both Senators and Representatives are Congressmen. Senators, the stuck up jerks they tend to be, get offended if you call them Congressman. Representatives generally have no issues being referred to as Congressman or Congresswoman, although I have worked with a couple that insisted on always being called Representative.
So, of the announced, who is the most conservative who won’t flake out and/or stupidly fall (à la Akins and Mourdock) into a trap set by the mainstream media?
That's exactly what I think of Price.
Broun has already had his Akins/Mourdock moment, and he survived. I believe he learned his lesson and won’t repeat the same mistake. Broun is also a young gun in the mold of Ted Cruz or Rand Paul. Needless to say, the Georgia state GOP will do everything in their power to ensure that Broun does not win. After all, they were the ones who gave us Isakson and Chambliss to begin with.
GA ping.
Is anyone here going to the state convention next Friday-Saturday?
Sorry, I will be in Virginia.
Of the three announced candidates, Paul Broun easily has my vote.
***********************************************************
Well, I’m not from Georgia so don’t have a vote there. But I’ve just gone in and made a small donation to Paul Broun’s campaign. Let’s continue the march to a conservative Republican Senate.
I guess you didn’t see my post #4.
Thanks for letting me know Broun is the best of the bunch. He’ll get my vote.
Me too. Paul Broun is the guy we need.
I’ll be there. Lots of good news in the 8th district with our newly elected CONSERVATIVE district officers.
I hope we can shake up the state too.
Broun is my first choice too. Gingrey and Kingston seem more like Washingon insiders than representatives of the GA populace.
That woman is absolutely convinced that Georgia needs her to represent us. She was in the lower half of my list of candidates for governor and lost a runoff to a guy who was also in the lower half. She should either go get a private sector job (not another non profit) or go home and take up gardening.
He’ll have to. He can’t run for the Senate and for Congress again simultaneously.
Now that is truly good news.
But only if Kingston loses. Let us pray the Tea Party prevails.
Here are six Republicans either running or considering running for Kingston’s seat so far:
Buddy Carter (R) - State Sen., Ex-State Rep., Pharmacist & Businessman
Darwin Carter (R) - Ex-USDA Official & Frequent Candidate
Jeff Chapman (R) - State Rep., Ex-State Sen., Ex-Glynn County Commissioner, Businessman & ‘10 Gov. Candidate
B. Stefan Jarvis (R) - Realtor & ‘11 Savannah Mayor Candidate
David Schwarz (R) - Ex-Congressional Aide
Ross Tolleson (R) - State Sen., Banker & Financial Advisor
I’m not sure which of these are Tea Party.
