The Internal Revenue Service's scrutiny of conservative groups went beyond those with "tea party" or "patriot" in their namesas the agency admitted Fridayto also include ones worried about government spending, debt or taxes, and even ones that lobbied to "make America a better place to live," according to new details of a government probe.
The investigation also revealed that a high-ranking IRS official knew as early as mid-2011 that conservative groups were being inappropriately targetednearly a year before then-IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman told a congressional committee the agency wasn't targeting conservative groups.

Here comes the, "sloppy, sloppy, sloppy" excuse again from the communist 'RATS.
I still don’t trust this. The timing is just too strange what with the Benghazi junk getting tense. Is it an attempt at distraction from something worse or closer to ostoner?
Agreed. What in the world have they done now that they are trying to hide?
If this is the distraction, it means Benghazi is even worse than it sounds.
Leaks on a Sunday. Somebody is spinning furiously. Looks like the plan is to throw Ms. Lerner under the bus and try to cap the scandal there.
I second that.
Certainly they went too far.
This was not the work of one operative.
This was a Conspiracy aimed against Conservatives.
No one person could have done this alone.
It took someone high up to arrange it and be sure it operated.
Anyone involved should be prosecuted. They knew it was against the law.
Either Obama ordered it or someone took it on themselves and that someone helped to guide others into this.
Who is willing to go under the bus for this so Obama can skate? How many will go under?
The spokesidiot couldn’t even answer the basic question of when the WH was aware of this on Friday.
“We don’t care. We don’t have to care. We’re the IRS, dammit.”

The IRS revelation is growing because of one main thing....the whistleblowers in other government departments will begin coming out of the D.C. woodwork like an army of 7-year cicadas....and the Benghazi testifiers have paved the way.
It's like the dike in Holland, one hole opened up last week.....and even a latter-day heroic Little Dutch Boy won't be able to stick his finger in the Benghazi opening to stop the pent-up flow of scandals bursting out from other administration rat holes.
It’s a diversion from Benghazi.
1/2 of Americans pay no income taxes.
Dems know this can’t hurt them, because their constituents don’t care.
In fact, they’re happy to see us discriminated against.
Time to go to a flat-tax with no deductions. It will ensure everyone pays something and has a stake in the system. Will prevent gaming and corruption by politically-connected companies.
Will allow everyone to prepare taxes on one page form, and we can fire 90% of IRS staff.
I believe that you are correct; and that much of this is pent up righteous response against corruption, and that it derives energy from other fellow would-be-whistle-blowers.
I also suspect that Congress and federal judges might be more likely to immunize earlier (rather than later) testimony.
