CURL: Watch out for Petraeus in Benghazi scandal
Washington Times ^ | May 12, 2013 | Joseph Curl

Posted on 05/13/2013 3:46:19 AM PDT by servo1969

Make no mistake: Benghazi is a major scandal. Benghazi is a scandal before, during and after the terrorist attack that left four Americas dead, including an ambassador.

For months before, there were warnings about weak security at the U.S. Consulate in Libya; no one paid attention. During the attack, when Americans were begging for help, the White House ignored their pleas, sent no help.

And after? That's when the Obama scandal falls into the predictable second-term pattern his predecessors all learned the very hard way. Faced with a crisis, the Obama White House panicked. "We can't have a terrorist strike two months before Election Day, so ... let's not have a terrorist strike two months before Election Day." Cue the Cover-Up.

*********

Despite protestations by the White House, this scandal is just beginning. And the White House has picked a very bad scapegoat: the Central Intelligence Agency. The CIA follows RFK's edict: "Don't get mad, get even." And when the CIA gets even, it isn't pretty.

With the White House putting all blame on the agency, expect push back this week — nuclear push back. Gen. David H. Petraeus, the former director forced to resign after a sex scandal, is a dangerous man to the Obama administration. Mad and intent on getting even, he's already talking, telling one reporter the talking points were "useless" and that he preferred not to use them at all. The floodgates will open this week, and by the end of business Friday, the scandal will be full blown.

We’ll see. I also remember the “Clinton’s going down” prognostications of Monicagate. Who can forget all that hoopla leading up to his videotaped deposition?

"We’ll see. I also remember the “Clinton’s going down” prognostications of Monicagate."

Sadly, I agree. I also remember the "Hillary's going down" wagon that DFU was pulling around here for the longest time, investing inordinate amounts of time and & money in a pursuit that went nowhere.

And look at the almost-daily outrages we see from Obama and his crime company: ignoring laws they don't like, making up new ones that fail the legislative process. Blatant, documentable lies. Blaming someone else for their own policy failures.

It goes on and on. Often, I think 'This time, the country is going to wake up'.

It never happens. I don't give up hope, but I don't hang my hat on it anymore, either.

Nobody died as a direct result of Watergate or Monicagate.

Benghazi or Monicagate did not affect most of the people personally. Add to this the IRSgate and now everyone is starting to pay attention because it affect every working and trust-fund person in this country. Left, Right or Center.

“Nobody died as a direct result of Watergate or Monicagate.”

Do you really think that even if they were to prove this came down directly from hussein or hillary, the “punshment” would be any different than what clinton got with holder in charge ?

Yes, because Holder is on hold for a ruling on F&F that is due shortly. The biggest difference are the whistle blowers are far more than clerks on the government dole.

I was a comm center controller in Tehran 1972-1974 and watched as then CIA Director Helms was whisked out of DC to be the new Ambassador to Iran. Everything US went through our facility, even the raw AP feed. As we had nothing better to do with our off duty time than listen to music, the daily rolls of teletype paper from that feed was passed around, many even came to the center to read the roll as it was being collected.

I have seen the same sequences, along with the media starting to ask really tough questions and the machine is rising to a boil, just as it did in 1973. The media may have been able to eventually obscure Benghazi, but the IRS thing is spinning back into reality for every taxpayer, especially now that we know they were also targeting Jewish groups like Z-Street.

Agree. I’m not very confident that anything will come of this. Nor, do I believe that it will have any significant negative effect on Hillary’s run for president. When the Lewinsky scandal first broke I remember Sam Donaldson speculating that Clinton might resign the next day. But, we soon came to realize that Democrats/Liberals have no shame. They are willing to ride out any scandal. And, their low information supporters will continue to vote for them - so they will continue to get their stuff....

This is different. I cannot recall where any president decided they were lost without sending in some military to look.

It's not about talking points. It's that our people were callously abandoned so that obama would not have anything bad "happen". Oh my god!

Help was NOT ALLOWED to even try to save any of them. God have mercy on obama and this America. What have we become under this president?

“The floodgates will open this week, and by the end of business Friday, the scandal will be full blown.”

We can only hope and pray.

But will the traitors of the lamestream media cover up the treason of the Kenyan and its minions?

To be sure, between this and the illegal IRS activities, there are enough criminal actions here to convict and hang most of the Democrat party and its media mouthpieces. The instinct for self-preservation among the elites will be strong.

The liberal media doesn’t care and won't report it. If they don't report it on the 6 pm network news it didn't happen to the uninformed idiot voters.

They are already back to spinning Owebama’s Rose Garden speech the next day as calling it a terrorist attack, when in reality he was taking about 9-11-01 and taken in context everyone knows it.

Even fat ass Candy Crowley was spinning that again, when after the debate she admitted it was a lie.

Unless Issa can get someone under oath to admit that Hillary or O’bastard ordered the troops to stand down, or ordered people to lie, this will go nowhere.

The local news has been emasculated, I stopped watching them years ago. These don’t go down overnight, there is a drip, drip process that wears on those to afraid to come out. I watched the process unfettered from half way around the world without the 6 o’clock news. Were you old enough to have understood Watergate as it happened? I had a front row seat from the Embassy in Tehran.

Yes, i remember watergate well, that was wall to wall reported, but Nixon didn’t have that magic “D” after his name.

"With the White House putting all blame on the agency, expect push back this week — nuclear push back. Gen. David H. Petraeus...

"Nuclear'? Horse manure. An American Ambassador was brutally raped and murdered. Three other Embassy officers murdered. American diplomatic facilities overrun and burned. Petraeus knew the truth, but said nothing. Not only that, but he played along. Didn't want to lose the perks of office, including time with his little playmate. Now he wants to talk? Not interested. Day late and dollar short. Go to Hell, Petraeus. You're poison. Further input from you at this point will only weaken our cause.
