Amazingly, Washington Post is covering it:

IRS targeted groups that criticized the government, IG report says

(hat tip to Drudge)

Mystery Aircraft Frightens Quincy Residents

By Bill Shields, WBZ-TV
May 9, 2013 11:59 PM

“Every night for nearly the last two weeks, residents have spotted a low-flying aircraft

“It’s frustrating, it really is,” says City Councillor Brian Palmucci. “I specifically asked, ‘Is it a law enforcement flight? Can we tell people that?’ He said, ‘No, we can’t tell you that.’ Then I asked that when folks call me can I at least tell them that it is something that they shouldn’t worry about, it’s something they shouldn’t be concerned with? He said, ‘I can’t tell you that.’”

Sources tell WBZ that the aircraft is not a drone, that it is manned. FAA spokesman Jim Peters would only say, “We have to be very careful this time” concerning information.”

Obviously when the federal government wants to keep something quiet, they keep it very quiet. In this case, they wouldn’t even say how long it would continue flying for. “

Using the IRS improperly was an article of impeachment for Nixon ...

From President Nixon's articles of impeachment:

1. He has, acting personally and through his subordinates and agents, endeavoured to obtain from the Internal Revenue Service, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, confidential information contained in income tax returns for purposed not authorized by law, and to cause, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, income tax audits or other income tax investigations to be intitiated or conducted in a discriminatory manner.

...why on earth would the IRS come out and admit this...voluntarily? Between this and Benghazi...

Michelle Bachmann is right on this: Lambasting the IRS gives the culpable media a big reason to deflect some of the public's attention away from Benghazi, which is what is happening. Overall so far, FReepers seem to be in some agreement that this tactic, which has worked many times in the past, won't work as well this time. Enough people are on the look-out for dog-wagging now.

THATS a great article. Everyone should be reading it.

Obama is basically a little fascist peckerwood bully. He also is a coward, as proven by his conduct on Benghazi.

Obama has committed hate crimes by using the IRS to violate citizens Civil Rights, and he should be tried and punished by Congress.

Back in May 2009, Professor Glenn Reynolds:

“Just a joke about the power of the presidency. Made by Jay Leno it might have been funny. But as told by Mr. Obama, the actual president of the United States, it’s hard to see the humor. Surely he’s aware that other presidents, most notably Richard Nixon, have abused the power of the Internal Revenue Service to harass their political opponents. But that abuse generated a powerful backlash and with good reason. Should the IRS come to be seen as just a bunch of enforcers for whoever is in political power, the result would be an enormous loss of legitimacy for the tax system.”

No doubt that this was a part of the Friday bad news 'dump' to distract from Benghazi ...

However .... this was already going to come out this week in a report by the Treasury Dept.'s IG so they were preempting it too: The Treasury Department's inspector general for tax administration is expected to release the results of a nearly yearlong investigation in the coming week. The AP obtained part of the draft report, which has been shared with congressional aides.

And just wait until these corrupt political scumbags are in charge of our health care! I am so scared of what has happened to our country. I feel like we are living in the soon-to-be Soviet States of America. I struggle not to hate every person I know who voted for this Soviet administration. Hope they feel good.

This appears to not just be a news dump, but a parallel scandal every bit as bad in its own way.

No deaths, but the horror of an out of control bureaucracy going after its own people is breath taking. The leftists are looking at there own Nixon, except he's somewhat incompetent in governance and much worse in his willingness to punish enemies.

Any government official who uses the abusive power of government against American citizens, regardless of political leaning, must not only be fired but jailed for their abuse of power.

Innocent till proven guilty is NOT the IRS policy. It is exactly the reverse yet no government judge has ever slapped them down for that policy. (more reason the government needs to be torn down to only what the Constitution allows.)

Come on....they did the infamous document dump on a Friday as is their wont for bad news.

If they planned this story to deflect from Benghazi (and much as I love M. Bachmann, she’s out of line inserting her nose in this) they would have orchestrated as if some grand and new news to digest.

This is going to hurt them more than anything...maybe even Benghazi.

But hey, I speculate.

And as hard as it is to believe, sometimes I’m wrong.

That is because Nixon was not part of the protected class. The new socialists hated him (even though he had a lot of socialism in him).

With Obambi, any attacks on the FedGov will be called racism or a hate crime.

It seems like the IRS is ripe for scrutiny followed by a lot of layoffs.

A lot of IRS layoffs would be the last nail in the coffin for Obamacare. They need that agency to get 4x as large for it to work.

Read up on propaganda, and state control.

The most dangerous thing for a State is people who are not educated by the State. Many teachers admit it in private.

The sons of those home schooled kids are a much bigger threat to the State than some idiots with firecrackers.

And they know it.

But seriously, why on earth would the IRS come out and admit this...voluntarily?

The IRS IG report is being released on Wednesday. All of this information will be available to the public. The IRS "leak" at a private meeting was meant to prick the air out of the balloon and lessen the impact of the report, which will be old news when it is released.

I find it amazing that the IG is acting the way it is supposed to and not part of the cover-up.

Thanks for the info.

The IRS story SOUNDS like a huge story and by itself, it is. But in fact, all that will come from this after all the hullabaloo subsides is that some Bush appointees will be forced to take the fall for the IRS and the O administration. Maybe some returns will be re-assessed.

The Benghazi cover-up, on the other hand, the stronger hand, is big enough to bring down bigwigs of the O administration, including the WH, and put some in jail, IF public and Congressional pressures are sufficient and long-lasting enough.

Should be an action-packed week on the speculation-news front.

“A Socialist State once thoroughly completed in all its details and its aspects—and that is what I am speaking of—could not afford to suffer opposition. . . Socialism is, in its essence, an attack not only upon British enterprise, but upon the right of the ordinary man or woman to breathe freely without having a harsh, clumsy, tyrannical hand clapped across their mouths and nostrils. . . Have we not heard Mr. Herbert Morrison descant upon his plans to curtail Parliamentary procedure and pass laws simply by resolution of broad principle in the House of Commons, afterward to be left by Parliament to the executive and to the bureaucrats to elaborate and enforce by departmental regulations?”

About altering talking points not being criminal...

These talking points weren’t created for Susan Rice. She used them on tv, but they were created to present to Congress as the regime’s word on Benghazi at that point. Probably unless presented under sworn testimony, knowingly altering them until they no longer told what the regime actually knew was true wouldn’t technically fit the crime of “lying to Congress”, but in all but technicality they were done to intentionally withhold and distort information presented to Congress.

That would be impeachable when taken with other things.

Leaving the Americans to die when they could have been saved while pretending they couldn’t be, would not technically be prosecutable as the crime of murder or criminally negligent homicide because these are political people making political decisions, but would certainly be impeachable.

It may be worse, I think more like the same kind of corruption and lies, the same kind of evil governance.

Being incompetent while people were being killed by terrorists, people you might have saved, telling rescue forces to stand down, then blaming it on a youtube video over and over again, knowing you are lying to the American public then covering it up is pretty damn bad.

Using the IRS to try to kill your domestic political opponents is in it's own way worse, just no one was killed. Yet.

These people are simply evil the way they do things, and the overflow is coming out of the cracks. The scandals are all similar: Incompetence, venomous deceit, lies and over the top attempts to destroy your political opponents.

I can't wait till Bambi care is fully implemented.

It seems like a good system yet they sometimes villify the IG or make him seem senile.

Crossing fingers on this....NOTHING on earth could hurt an administration more than this.
