Carl Bernstein 'Can't Imagine' Obama Involved In IRS Scandal
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 05/13/2013 5:57:24 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

When it comes to investigative reporters, how do you change a bulldog into a lapdog? Easy: change the occupant of the Oval Office from a Republican into a Democrat.

Witness Carl Bernstein's pitiful performance on today's Morning Joe. The man who teamed with Bob Woodward to bring down Richard Nixon now credulously claims that he "can't imagine" that President Obama is possibly involved in the IRS targeting of conservative groups. Bernstein instead blames the "hyper-partisanship" in Washington. Yeah, cause politics were so kumbaya in 1972, Carl.

Pathetic: Carl Bernstein says he’d be “very surprised” and “can’t imagine” that Obama is involved in IRS scandal. Ping to Today show list.

He has soiled his depends a long time ago. I no longer have any respect at all for him.

Woodward still has *some* street cred, although not nearly as much as he once had.

The actigity of the IRS constitutes a clear “Hate Crime” This is a violation of the Civil Rights Act.

A special prosecutor needs to be appointed.

Obama must be impeached for this , using the IRS like a gestapo which it is of course as government is evil and doesn’t work.

Also targeting conservative groups invalidate the U.S. presidential election of 2012.

Obama and Obama’s IRS targeted conservative groups during the election to rig the results of the election.

Impeachment in the United States is an expressed power of the legislature that allows for formal charges against a civil officer of government for crimes committed in office. The actual trial on those charges, and subsequent removal of an official on conviction on those charges, is separate from the act of impeachment itself.

Impeachment is analogous to indictment in regular court proceedings, while trial by the other house is analogous to the trial before judge and jury in regular courts.

Typically, the lower house of the legislature will impeach the official and the upper house will conduct the trial.

At the federal level, Article II of the United States Constitution (Section 4) states that “The President, Vice President, and all civil Officers of the United States shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors.” The House of Representatives has the sole power of impeaching, while the United States Senate has the sole power to try all impeachments. The removal of impeached officials is automatic upon conviction in the Senate. In Nixon v. United States (1993), the Supreme Court determined that the federal judiciary cannot review such proceedings.

Impeachment can also occur at the state level; state legislatures can impeach state officials, including governors, according to their respective state constitutions.

At the Philadelphia Convention, Benjamin Franklin noted that, historically, the removal of “obnoxious” chief executives had been accomplished by assassination. Franklin suggested that a proceduralized mechanism for removal — impeachment — would be preferable.

No my blubbery lipped friend, they get revenge... you are at the end of your life, so what does it matter to you... for the rest of us who has to live with being enslaved to Obamacare and the IRS mandate to oversee it... people like you make the rest of us spitting mad you old coot.

With any other journalist, I would say these comments result from him being a good liberal who sees no evil, even when its blindingly obvious, in a Dem administration. But when it comes to Carl, his enormous ego outstrips even his liberal zealotry and so I’d say his comments have more to do with protecting his legacy of having Watergate be the only true presidential scandal rather than his knee-jerk liberal reaction to protect the president.

Of course Zer0 can't be involved in the IRS scandal. That would imply he actually does something in the public housing at 1600 PA AVE besides plan vacations, hold concerts and parties and shoot hoops with Reggie Love.

What a pathetic excuse for a human being this man is.

BTW has anyone besides The Blaze and Mark Levin been covering the helicopter crash where the members of seal team 6 were killed?

Richard Nixon was brought down by “Deep Throat”.

Bill Clinton was almost brought down by almost the same problem.

Barack Obama? Can’t imagine that he’s involved in a scandal. It is pathetic how the fear of being called racist is a shield for today’s massive corruption - and probably for treason too.

If responded to this story elsewhere as follows; as bad as this is, I believe it’s being put out to distract us from the Bengazi slaughter. Obama can fire a few IRS employees and leave Hillary untouched. As serious as this is, no one died and the democrats can make it go away by destroying a few sacrificial lambs.

So - low level employees, independently and without direction from higher management:

1 - Hatched this plan on their own

2 - Designed a complicated form

3 - Had the form printed and distributed

4 - Set up a data base to process the forms and collate the data

5 - Found the time to do it all without impacting their other work

6 - Did it all without drawing attention from their superiors?

Only a member of the Slobbering Obama Media would believe a Fairy Tale like that.

It probably is to take eyes off of Benghazi, possibly also to try to generate smoke for more gun-ban talks/legislation [the statists, this includes many Republicans, really want gun-control]. But here's the thing: the IRS's activities are an impeachable offense itself -- if we had a patriotic or morally secure congress with any brains they'd be snapping this up and pursuing it up trying to frighten them into implicating Obama to save their own skin, just like they'd already have been doing w/ Benghazi.
