On Saturday, we discovered that the IRS targeting of conservative groups didnt start in 2012 and wasnt limited to a few rogue low-level agents. Senior officials became aware of the practice at least as early as June 2011, including the top lawyer for the IRS. Today, the Wall Street Journal and Reuters report that an upcoming IG report will show that the practice first began in the 2010 midterm cycle (via TPM):
Here we thought the Won was the incarnation of Jimmy Carter. Actually, he’s the incarnation of Richard Nixon.
Targets conservatives?! *whew* I thought it was something serious. I mean, shredding the constitution and using the government to torment citizens isn’t an issue if conservatives are the target.
The lapdog media will be sure the public remains blissfully unaware.
All 150 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Councils in CA are on the IRS Watch List because of our support for Prop 8.
I fear you are right. I fear that the major league scandals of this IRS thing and Benghazi are going to be completely unnoticed and that zero will leave office proclaiming the most ethical and transparent presidency in history; his 47% will believe it; and his media will repeat.
We live in rather dire times.
The brains of Jimmy Carter with the ethics of Richard Nixon.
You know the IRS may have targeted conservatives because just they are generally the white middle class bread earners that have worked harder and saved and invested more. It may be that they just knew the best place to siphon money to pay for ll their entitlement programs. Just a thought.
I’d post these articles to Facebook but I don’t want to be audited.
“The 2010 Mid-Term Cycle” = The Entire 0bama Presidency.
I was audited for a stupid formality, which was easily documented. How many more of us?
Go to the NY Times website and read the comments following the article on this subject today.
Chilling.
The IRS requested donor’s lists from these groups. You know people who feel strongly enough to cough up cash. Probably pretty handy information for the DHS.
“We live in rather dire times.”
It’s been said over and over, Obama is the symptom, a stupid, uninterested public is the problem. It is a problem that could be mitigated with an objective media. Heck, even a slightly biased media would help the situation. A media that is totally in the tank, dishonest, and traitorous, such as our current media, is too big to conquer.
We will be forced to watch America die the death of 1000 cuts, most inflicted by the media.
Why this, now? Who is behind exposing the abuses of IRS and what do they stand to gain from it?
Don’t tell me the national state-run media has all of a sudden discovered journalistic integrity...
Is this how the dog will be wagged? Expose one scandal in order to defocus the scrutiny of another one?
“Just a thought.”
Since I don’t know for sure, I would have to acknowledge your theory is possible. But, I don’t think it’s probable. The IRS is a tempting hammer to use on opponents. When a Marxist/Chicago thug has his hands on the levers of power, this type of abuse is to be expected.
“The brains of Jimmy Carter with the ethics of Richard Nixon.”
also the sophistication of Johnson
with the ethics of the Clintons
and the common touch of the Kennedys
Left wing blogs saying the same thing,,,that the IRS should target anyone on the right who disagrees with obama about anything.
Close- he has the brains of jimmy Carter and the ethics of Richard Nixon
At least he didn’t have 900 FBI files delivered to him like the Clinton’s did. (what did they want with them again?)
Interesting, I was audited last year for the years 2009 & 2010. I always thought it was because of my wife’s in home business. Now I am trying to remember if I gave any money to a Tea Party group. I had a Tea party bumper sticker on my old pickup truck. The IRS office is on the other side of the parking lot from us. Must be a coincidence.
I also had a bumper sticker that said: Toyota Tacoma, Official Vehicle of the Taliban.
Some people just do not have a sense of humor.
