After 10 days of deliberations and an announcement by the jury that they were deadlocked on two charges, a verdict has now been reached
Snipe his spinal cord.
A verdict has been reached in the capital murder trial against former Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell.
The jury of seven women and five men weighed more than 250 charges against the Gosnell with the most serious being four counts of first-degree murder.
Earlier in the day, the jury told the court they were deadlocked on two counts. It is currently unclear on which charges the jury was deadlocked. The group told the court it had reached a consensus on all other counts.
Around 10:00 a.m. Monday, the jury passed a note to Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey P. Minehart explaining their situation. The admission came on the 10th day of deliberations.
By law, according to attorneys for both sides, Judge Minehart is required to re-instruct the jury to deliberate on the two charges a second time and attempt to reach a verdict.
The alleged crimes came to light on February 10, 2010 after investigators from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Drug Enforcement Agency raided the inner-city clinic at 3801 Lancaster Avenue following a tip that a prescription pill mill was operating inside.
Agents were met, not with an illegal narcotics drug operation, but rather, unsanitary conditions. Investigators testified they found blood-stained rooms, filthy and old equipment and untrained staff. Aborted fetuses were stored in a basement freezer in plastic food containers and bags next to employee lunches. Severed feet from aborted babies were found preserved in jars around the clinic.
The conditions found inside the clinic led Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams to call the clinic a “house of horrors” in a 2011 grand jury report.
If convicted of first-degree murder, Gosnell faces the death penalty.
Should be guilty, but, after OJ, nothing that a jury does surprises me anymore.
Here we go.....
St Michael the Archangel, defend us in this day of battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, cast into hell satan & all other evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
“If NOT convicted of first-degree murder, Gosnell will receive the Planned Parenthood Provider of the Decade Award.”
No, they should just jam some scissors in his brain and swish them around in there until he’s vegetable.
I am concerned when there are that many counts...
Yes with a 50 Cal.
Kind of like Susan Rice getting a “Great American” award on May 7th, one day before the last Benghazi hearing?
227 of them are for failing to follow the 24-hour waiting period law prior to performing abortions. I'd think those were swept along fairly quickly.
When are they going to read the verdict?
I hope I'm wrong. But justice isn't served much these days.
may he spend eternity swimming around a blood and feces filled toilet bowl, trying to survive
Obviously, I hope you're wrong, but the real concern is that if this guy - the poster child for child sacrifice - can't be convicted of anything heinous, then who else could ever be put on trial for anything abortion-related?
News reports are embargoed until after all of the verdicts have been announced. Reporters were told they may not leave the courtroom until completion. This could take awhile.
Exactly. Gosnell is the worst-case scenario. If he walks it will be a signal that PBA is A-OK and all laws against it are toothless.
No, way too quick. Snipped to death with scissors.
Fox News is reporting now, too: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/05/13/jury-split-on-2-counts-in-trial-abortion-doctor-kermit-gosnell/
Actually I think this might be the right time for a pack of pit bulls.
If he does, I wonder if someone would administer a private form of justice.
I turned on FOX and they said they are readng it now but the courtroom is locked down.
We can hope. Unfortunately, rough justice rarely happen here in the States anymore.
And if some procedural error real or imaginary is found, appealed and the appellate court finds in the doctor's favor, do all 250 counts vanish?
If Gosnell is found innocent, then post-birth infanticide is legitimate.
Does the kid get hours, days, weeks or years before it’s too late to kill her?
You know; I cannot understand why "locked down" courtrooms are allowed for criminal charges:
Amendment VIThe verdict is part of the trial and should therefore be public... though I suppose that if it's at the state-level there is argument that the 6th Amendment is not binding on those courts.
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.
Even if he is convicted what makes you think he won't recieve that award.
Bingo. Just another form of "birth control." The movement for post-partum abortion already has legs in Europe. You can bet that the progs here are wistful for it.
Google maps identifies this place as 3801 Lancaster, in Philadelphia. This is where the murders of precious innocent children took place.
Okay. In absentia.
Hate to say it, but it entirely depends on the racial, not gender, makeup of the jury.
I hope you all will consider giving to
You can get a tax deduction for donating to them...their mission is to educate college campuses regarding the PRO-LIFE position.
In this case, the lockdown is to minimize disruption and maintain decorum in the courtroom by preventing reporters from jumping up and down, running in and out and clacking on their Crackberries while the lengthy list of verdicts are announced.
A direct courtroom video feed would have been nice. However, cameras in the courtroom have a nasty habit of turning members of the bar into Judge Ito and Johnny Cochran wannabes.
Yep. Learned that in the O.J. trial. Way too many out there who -- no matter the circumstances -- will NOT ever send a brutha up.
It should be burned to the ground.
Once my wallet recovers from giving the NRA another boost I'm going to be looking their way.
I suppose ABC/NBC/CBS/PBS/CNN/MSNBC have all broken into their normal programming with Breaking News 24-hr breaking news coverage and have reporters on the ground awaiting the announcement of the verdict... LOL.
I was thinking maybe also because there’s so many counts against him? Or maybe they’re protecting themselves from the so called “pro life terrorists” the gov’t warns about?
I fear another OJ jury.
Guilty first degree murder in 3 or 4 counts.
This ought to be in BREAKING news. I disagree strongly with the removal thereof.
