So proclaiming undying hatred of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the American flag is apparently viewed by some around here as the acme of patriotism.

Odd, that.

I’ll cut some slack for the author of the poem. He had been defeated and was understandably and forgivably defiant and resentful.

But I will never understand those who choose to resurrect such sentiments from a long-buried past.

A Constitution not followed is worse than no Constitution at all. For it has now just a fig leaf for the statist to do as they please, unrestrained. The declaration of Independence has lost its meaning in this statist Thugocracy . It isn't all Lincoln's fault, he just showed future Presidents how to wield unrestrained power. So yes, I am just as cynical as that great American, Major James Randolph CSA.
