Political corruption at the IRS
WaPo ^ | 5/14/2013 | MIchael Gerson

Suppose that the Environmental Protection Agency were to admit offhandedly that the fluoridation of water had only modest communist mind-control effects. Or the United Nations were to concede it had been running fleets of black helicopters over U.S. cities, but only in the course of conducting extensive goodwill tours.

The Internal Revenue Service has managed a similar confirmation. For years, tea party and patriot groups have breathlessly alleged that federal bureaucrats were conspiring against the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Then federal bureaucrats conspired to target conservative groups because their tax documents contained the words “tea party” or “patriot,” and because they were “educating on the Constitution and Bill of Rights.”

*snip*

During his commencement address this month at Ohio State University, President Obama said: “Unfortunately, you’ve grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity. . . . They’ll warn that tyranny is always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices.”

Now part of his own administration has powerfully amplified those voices. If he expects Americans to reject them, it is his personal responsibility to act decisively in restoring the ruined reputation of the IRS.

Depressing to read all the leftists comments at the WP. They are so clueless and would defend throwing all conservatives in gulags if it came to that.

I think a lot of folks in Congress and elsewhere have been keenly aware that this tyranny is Obama's and Soros' goal...and have been building a case for bringing him down.

What we are currently witnessing is the presentation of their evidence. Hopefully, what we are seeing is only the tip of the iceberg.

This is the agency that is collecting money for obama care. This agency is corrupt and is being used for political motives. We can expect more of this unless their director and his boss are sent to jail.

You mean like:

“Be real! This story only has legs because the media gives it legs. What a joke! It is just like any other story.”

These folks will be hit with a hard dose of reality before too long.

Washington
The EPA wants in on the scandal barrage, too

Washington Examiner

Posted: May 14, 2013 9:31 am

Conservative groups seeking information from the Environmental Protection Agency have been routinely hindered by fees normally waived for media and watchdog groups, while fees for more than 90 percent of requests from green groups were waived, according to requests reviewed by the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

CEI reviewed Freedom of Information Act requests sent between January 2012 and this spring from several environmental groups friendly to the EPA’s mission, and several conservative groups, to see how equally the agency applies its fee waiver policy for media and watchdog groups. Government agencies are supposed to waive fees for groups disseminating information for public benefit.

Money:   It is precisely because police powers are essential to the public good that abusing them is so offensive.

We have an abusive extra branch of government, the Administrative State, because Congress not only allows it, Congress loves it. Unnamed bureaucrats push around churches, oil companies, insurance companies, THE STATES, . . . and our Congress-clowns just shrug their shoulders and take credit for occasionally helping out the proletariat.

The 17th Amendment made it all possible. No serious reform, no return to Constitutionalism is possible before the horrible 17th is repealed.

The EPA needs to be disbanded immediately. ALL of its employees could be given two weeks notice, refunded whatever THEY have contributed to their retirement system and given the bum’s rush out the door.

The EPA has been obsolete for at least 15 years and have done nothing but hinder and hobble the economy while doing nothing to REALLY protect the environment.

Let them get REAL JOBS where they actually must produce wealth and not simply leech off of the hard work of others.
