Cleta Mitchell, one of Washington's most respected elections attorneys, told Newsmax she has tangible proof that high-ranking IRS officials in Washington were fully aware of the agency's campaign to target conservative groups for heightened scrutiny, despite their denials.
And she thinks the president knew about the practice too. If proven, she said, it could be an impeachable offense.
Mitchell, in an interview with Newsmax TV on Tuesday, said she was told by a Cincinnati IRS agent that applications by two of her conservative clients were being processed by — and would ultimately be approved or denied — in Washington.
She said she also is aware of nearly 100 other conservative groups that were being targeted by Washington.
"There were nearly 100 groups across the country that got the very egregious set of letters from the IRS that were almost identical and they came from offices all over the country so I know of at least 85 to 90, maybe more, organizations," said Mitchell, who represents six groups which say they have been targeted, including the King Street Patriots and True the Vote.
"If they had the name "tea party" or they had the word "patriots" or if their mission was smaller government or study the Constitution, believe it or not, that would cause the IRS to say, 'Oh we better investigate these groups.'"
In the case of one such client, she and her family subsequently became targets for audits to their personal and business tax returns, and were even visited by three different government agencies. She also knows of other groups who had surprise visits from the FBI after they applied for IRS status.

Were the number of Tea Party tax-exempt applications obstructed by the IRS inordinately high in the key battleground states (Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia)? If so, it would indicate a deliberate strategy to influence the election by indirectly suppressing conservative GOTV efforts in those states. It’s a question our GOP congresscritters should ask.

Denis McDonough, Deputy National Security Advisor would be the perfect scape goat for a scandal. He’s easy to replace. With some promises from high powered dems. He could quietly go away in shame for the admin.
We’ll see how it goes.
It's time for all of them to pick sides. Those with the most to lose or gain will align the soonest. Question is, what must Harry have to lose that he'd go on offense? He needs a distraction. Can he create one of his own to detract from the President, which actually helps him?

He was probably in on targeting conservative groups. Several dem senators apparently asked the WH and IRS to do this very thing.
This goes deep and has the potential to bring the democrat party down for many years.

Unless Boner grows a pair to go with his head, these conspiracies will all die on the vine. Or worse, they'll be labelled GOP witch hunts and all will backfire. I have little confidence that these issues will do little more than slow Obama's agenda.
Immigration? Social Security? Debt? Military defunding? Welfare Fraud? Pigford? .... I'll get back into the game aggressively when I see some real movement. So far, Boner needs to appoint two special prosecutors. Where is he?
I hope the GOP congresscritters analyze which Tea Party orgs were put through this harass/delay process. I would bet that the orgs in question were all concentrated in the key 2012 battleground states (Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia....). A deliberate strategy to keep these 501(c)(4) from forming, fundraising, and engaging in GOTV in time to affect the election.
I suspect the ONLY thing that will remove Ol’ Purple Lips from the White House will be Hillary’s swearing in.
