IT'S A SCENE that could be from a '70s horror movie: A wave of ice crystals relentlessly marching towards homes in Minnesota in the United States.
The massive ice floes have also destroyed 12 homes and damaged another 15 in Canada, which boarders Minnesota.
According to emergency officials, a total of seven homes in Ochre Breach were "literally crushed" by the ice that rose up within minutes pushed by strong winds, Winnepeg Free Press reports.
A resident caught footage of a wave of ice that creeped off another lake in Minnesota - as foam froze and was pushed ashore by strong, icy winds.
Billions of needles of ice seemingly crawl up out of the lake and swarm over the shoreline...

I was on the U of Mn campus yesterday and there is still a pile of snow reaching up to the second level of a parking ramp there. (even though it got up to 98 yesterday here).

People were out taking nice videos, but they could have been trying to minimize damage by moving things out of the path of glass doors, etc.
It’s always been an issue on large open water lakes like mille lacs.
People who live there don’t think it’s such a big deal. Happens frequently on a smaller scale. This is unusual because it’s so late in the season. Mother Day weekend kicks off the Minnesota boating season.

Creeping ice is dangerous, but not nearly so dangerous as creeping socialism.
You know those Canucks sometimes overstay their welcome but they're usually so nice that it's hard to tell them that it's time to go home.
It is clear in this organization that the spellcheckers work better than the editors.
