CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
FOX19 has exclusively learned that as many as four people may be the first Cincinnati Internal Revenue Service (IRS) employees to face disciplinary action, and possibly even criminal charges, for allegedly targeting Tea Party and Liberty groups applying for non-profit status.
On Wednesday, the IRS announced that it has pin-pointed two employees at the agency's Cincinnati office for being 'primarily' responsible.
In addition, acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller resigned his position, revealed by President Obama on Wednesday.
"Secretary Lew took the first step by requesting and accepting the resignation of the acting commissioner of the IRS, because given the controversy surrounding this audit, it's important to institute new leadership that can help restore confidence going forward," said President Obama in a statement on Wednesday evening.
Prior to his resignation, Steven Miller called the two Cincinnati employees 'rogue' and 'off the reservation', adding that they were 'overly aggressive' in handling the requests from those conservative groups over the past two years.
Miller also added that those two employees have already been 'disciplined' by the agency.
However, despite the claim of just two employees being involved, FOX19 has exclusively learned from two separate sources that there could be at least four Cincinnati employees involved.
Those four employees -- whose names we have chosen to withhold until they have been officially confirmed -- Have each worked in the IRS Exempt Organizations Department.
This is the same department that has admitted publicly to sending letters to Tea Party and other conservative organizations.
FOX19 has also confirmed those four Cincinnati employees made large requests of information from:
The Richmond, Virginia Tea Party in January of 2012. The Ohio Liberty Council in January of 2012.. Dan Backer, a lawyer based in Washington D.C. who helped six small conservative groups apply for 501c4 status in February of 2012. The Liberty Township Tea Party in March of 2012.
One of FOX19's two sources went on say that these four IRS workers claim "they simply did what their bosses ordered". Keep in mind, as FOX19 reported on Tuesday, the report by the Office of Inspector General states that senior IRS officials knew agents were targeting Tea Party groups as early as 2011.
In fact, according to that report, Lois Lerner who heads the IRS division that oversees tax exempt organizations, was told on June 29, 2011 that groups with 'Tea Party', 'Patriot' or '9/12 Project' in their names were being flagged for additional, and often burdensome, scrutiny.
While the IRS is pointing at 'two rogue employees', the number of organizations that were singled out has swelled to nearly 500, according to Rep. Congressmen Darryl Issa and Ohio's Jim Jordan.
FOX News is also reporting that at least two Cincinnati agents have been subpoenaed to testify before congress on Monday.
"Disciplined"? Unless they're in jail and all their property has been confiscated, their disciplining has not even started. IMHO, any name that appears on forms requesting excessive information should be released to the public.
how were they disciplined?
given raises I bet
Even self-styled genius blowhard O'Reilly has forgotten what happened to "Joe the Plumber?"
He actually thinks that Hussein deserves "the benefit of the doubt!"
We’re letting the ‘fox count the chickens’ now? Time for Congress to determine who the bad guys are, not the bad guys making those determinations.
We need to make some examples out of these petty tyrants. “Kill a chicken to scare the monkey”, as the Chinese say. Let’s make a ruckus until these fascist scum are stripped of their pensions and sent to prison. Remember Alinsky: individuals hurt more than institutions. Lets really put the hurt on this filth.
Remember how the TV told us that anyone that thought this was happening last year was just “CWAZY!, “NUTS!”, “A Fox-News Zombie!”, “Crazy Freeper!”, quite possibly a racist, or something similarly insulting?
Sadly, I think not. Not unless this is punished on a regular basis.
There are too many petty bureaucrats everywhere who use their power to harass others and make themselves feel important and powerful. It’s not just for political reasons, either. Sometimes it’s for bribe money. Sometimes it’s a favor to friends. Sometimes it’s just because they get off on hurting others or jerking them around.
Ever try to get a building permit in most places? If you’re not part of the “in crowd” - professionals and contractors known to the bureaucrats - they make the process very painful and nearly impossible.
Still, I’d like to see plenty of jail time for everyone connected with this. It would be a good start.
Surely, these groups that were being denied their status contacted IRS offices or congressman to find out what was taking so long.

Major hub not small office
This was a blatant attempt to interfere with the Tea Party’s ability to organize before the election. The election results need to be vacated and a special election held ASAP. I can always dream.
There goes your "Rogue Employees" story, 0bambi!
Congress cannot issue indictments.
Hopefully you know that.
Congress holds hearings. They investigate. If they believe laws were violated, they can only refer the matters to prosecutors in the criminal justice system. Those prosecutors can either pursue, or not pursue the case.
Let me suggest that people at lower levels in the IRS need to be encouraged to rat out their superiors who in turn need to be encouraged to rat out anyone in or outside the agency all the way up to the WH. Or people who took their marching orders from Democrat leftist thug pols such as Senators. I heard on Mark Levin that Carl Levin of MI had sicked the IRS on organizations he did not like.
This is systemic and is the tip of the iceberg.
Couldn’t get the links to work or paragraphs. hmmmm.
