Sadly, I think not. Not unless this is punished on a regular basis.

There are too many petty bureaucrats everywhere who use their power to harass others and make themselves feel important and powerful. It’s not just for political reasons, either. Sometimes it’s for bribe money. Sometimes it’s a favor to friends. Sometimes it’s just because they get off on hurting others or jerking them around.

Ever try to get a building permit in most places? If you’re not part of the “in crowd” - professionals and contractors known to the bureaucrats - they make the process very painful and nearly impossible.

Still, I’d like to see plenty of jail time for everyone connected with this. It would be a good start.

Surely, these groups that were being denied their status contacted IRS offices or congressman to find out what was taking so long.

This was a blatant attempt to interfere with the Tea Party’s ability to organize before the election. The election results need to be vacated and a special election held ASAP. I can always dream.

Set up Scapegoats. Let them testify like Hicks, Thompson and Nordstrom.

Congress cannot issue indictments.

Hopefully you know that.

Congress holds hearings. They investigate. If they believe laws were violated, they can only refer the matters to prosecutors in the criminal justice system. Those prosecutors can either pursue, or not pursue the case.

Let me suggest that people at lower levels in the IRS need to be encouraged to rat out their superiors who in turn need to be encouraged to rat out anyone in or outside the agency all the way up to the WH. Or people who took their marching orders from Democrat leftist thug pols such as Senators. I heard on Mark Levin that Carl Levin of MI had sicked the IRS on organizations he did not like.

This is systemic and is the tip of the iceberg.

IRS Letters Harassing Conservative Groups Came From Washington, DC Headquarters And California Offices, Despite IRS’ Claims It Was “Rogue” Cincinnati Employees… ~snip~ Letters from the IRS to tea party-related organizations in Oklahoma City and Albuquerque, New Mexico show that IRS headquarters in Washington, D.C., and two satellite offices in California, were directly involved with sending harassing letters to conservative organizations that sought tax-exempt status. The IRS has acknowledged only the involvement of its Exempt Organizations office in Cincinnati, Ohio, which typically makes most decisions about granting or denying tax-exempt status to non-profit organizations. Read more at daily mail. I can't get a link to work. Hmmm

At least he got this statement right.

Just what I was thinking. Where did this come from? The IRS just suddenly admits this? Say what? This is a deflection.

So the cover-up has already been exposed.

Who directed the cover-up?

Congress cannot issue indictments.

Yes, I knew that - an important note - and should have put that in my steps. DOJ would be the ones to prosecute and secure the indictment thru grandjury.

So we are to believe that all of these conservative group applications were handled by a couple of people. Somehow these just ended up on their desks. Sorry, not buying it!

People need to go to P-R-I-S-O-N.
And they need to lose the right to the thing that Federal employees hold highest in value—they need to LOSE THEIR FEDERAL EMPLOYEES PENSIONS.

Refund to them their indiviual contributions (they can use it in partial payment of their attorney bills) but absolutely NO PENSION FOR THEM. Federal employees would rather have their spouse and children killed before they lost their pensions. OK, that’s a little exageration—but not much.

And believe me, this corruption extends far beyond 4 employees. A REAL INVESTIGATION (i.e., hard drives seized, complete phone records obtained, complete copies of all emails obtained [actual digital copies with all metadata intact] relevant data from various IRS servers obtained.

Orders need to go out before to seize relevant hard drives and servers before the “I’m sorry, we 'sanitized' those hard-drives per our current security practices” excuses have an opportunity to unfold.

Let’s have a well-funded and staffed Special Prosecutor start the digging without further footdragging by Obama administration staffers.

I don’t know.
But in my travels today I heard Limbaugh play a segment or Q/A and he didn’t really answer the question. I can’t find it right now though.
Something about he was asked a question about the IRS, and answered it about something else.
