Reese family requests partial asset release for legal, living expenses
Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 15 May, 2013 | David Codrea

A Defendant’s Motion for Partial Release of Assets was filed Monday by attorneys in the District Court of the United States for the District Of New Mexico on behalf of the Reese family of gun dealers to substantiate reasons why doing so is not only critical to the family’s defense, but also why legal precedent requires it.

“Defendants, Rick Reese and Terri Reese … move this Court to enter an order authorizing the release of a portion of their seized assets to pay for upcoming legal expenses as well as to provide life subsistence,” the motion begins. Assets listed which could be used for this purpose include real property, vehicles, coins and currency.

Jailed for allegedly knowingly selling guns to cartel members, all family members were found not guilty on the most serious charges of conspiracy, and money laundering charges against them were dismissed. Husband Rick, wife Terri and son Ryin were convicted on a handful of lesser charges of making false statements on forms, basically under the presumption that they should have know federal agents were lying. Rick and Ryin were released on bond in February and Terri was released on bond last year. Son Remington was cleared of all charges, and a new trial for the outstanding convictions has been ordered following the judge’s ruling that the prosecutor withheld evidence from the jury.

“[T]he parties agreed that the civil forfeiture would proceed in January based on the trial record created during the criminal trial,” the motion reminds the court. “Following the entry of this Court’s order on February 1, 2013, granting Rick Reese and Ryin Reese’s Motion for New Trial, there is obviously no longer a trial record from the original case.

This case illustrates how corrupt the system has become. This is persecution, not prosecution.

Then the person most responsible for this atrocity is rewarded with appointment as a federal judge.

While everyone in government can lie with impunity to Congress and the people, the corrupt government can unjustly imprison and make destitute an innocent family. How utterly shameful!

Logic would tell me that if the prosecutor knowlingly witheld evidence then he should go to prison and all other charges should be dismissed but then the government is never logical.

Not knowing the legitimacy of this case, I can say unequivocally that government agencies use seizure like the Mafia extorts “protection” money.

COPS, prosecutors, courts - are all-in on the racket to fund their gravy train. The legal system has been bastardized over the years to act like an extortion syndicate. Seen it many times and it's growing worse. It's high time to end this war on citizens. Keep the peace and uphold the rule of law - noble cause. Ruin innocent or vulnerable families - un-American.

Participate in this racket - sooner or later you'll be on the other side of big brother - even if your have a "get out of jail card" (if you read this and don't know what I mean, then you're not the problem). When you find yourself on the receiving end - you'll be cryin' bloody murder.

We all know Rick was set up by the government and one thing about Rick is that he was an unabashed big government hater. He made no bones about it, he is just as big a victim of this administration as the AP and the TEA party groups. We all know that this administration has persecuted, publicly and privately, anyone who goes against them and rewarded anyone with their views and anyone who pays up.
