James Carville: This is all over in 30 days By: Kevin Robillard May 16, 2013 11:57 AM EDT

Democratic strategist James Carville had some good news for President Barack Obama amid three controversies: It will all be over in a month.

Carville, who helped guide former President Bill Clinton through crises, on Thursday described Benghazi and the Justice Department’s decision to subpoena the Associated Press’ phone records as non-stories to start with and he predicted the IRS scandal would fizzle out within a month.

“These guys are awfully frustrated right now,” Carville said, referring to the GOP. “They’re taking the anger out, and I understand that. I think the White House has just go to live with this for 30 days, get the truth out and you know, just roll with the punches here. They’re down to swinging pretty wildly here.”

The Ragin’ Cajun said Republicans were focused on the IRS scandal because many of their political positions are being undercut by long-term trends.

“That’s what they’re down to,” Carville said. “Remember that the earth is warming, and that the economy is growing, the deficit is shrinking, that health care costs are flattening out, that Benghazi was nothing and as I said, there may be something amiss in the Cincinnati office of the IRS. If there is, we should find out about it and fix it and if somebody did something wrong, they should be fired or brought to justice.”

The politicization of the IRS has a bigger impact than a dozen Bill Clintoon blow jobs.

What Mr. Spock looks like where James Carville lives.

Opens mouth...

BS flows forth.

If we subpoena the documents that the WH has refused to provide, which are NOT classified, they’re going to be dealing with more than 30 days worth of this.

Even if the scandals end, Obamacare comes along, his agenda is effectively neutered and a lot of eyes will be a let less widely shut. :)

This was never going on in the world of the low information voters to begin with.

Wait a year when they can’t go to the doctor or their insurance premiums are double, and those LIV’s won’t be able to bury their heads in the sand any longer.

It’s over in 30 days because the summer recess begins and that gives em time to conjure up a New distraction

In Clinton’s second year in office everything was going wrong and his administration was starting to be ridiculed as hopelessly in over their heads, high school student council types. The press was starting to do real damage. Then, suddenly, they looked around and said to themselves “What are we doing?”. Immediately, the attacks stopped and the (somewhat deserved - “They made me use the rear exit. Whaaa”) pillorying of Newt Gingrich began.

We may see the same thing here but the interesting difference in the dynamic is Hillary and her viability.

0bama may well survive. But all this scandal stuff could make him very unpopular. Voters may well choose to demonstrate their displeasure by voting against Dems in 2014. That, not impeachment, is the Dems’ worst nightmare.

He’s right.

Nothing is going to come of this, no one is going to hold him or anyone else accountable for this or anything else.

Our government is totally out of control.

I also think he’s correct. This administration will continue to stonewall and lie and the MSM will grow weary and move on. Just look at Fast and Furious, it’s become a nonissue.

None of these things are true so Carville may be wrong provided the Republicans grow a pair. If they do fire or bring to justice those responsible then Obama is gone.

The highlight of the comments from the WH so far is Obama admonishing Congress not to "politicize" the IRS investigation. Hutzpah.

Carville’s correct...unless Obastard declares “woah” on his enemies. Then it will be prolonged for a very long time.

All that needs to happen for this to go away in any meaningful way is for the major networks to cease coverage.

It then won't matter what the GOP, FNC, or the alternative media do - it'll just be 'paranoid static'.

Cargill is correct
See ! See what happens when our fearless leader goes golfing and forgets his Blackberry ? Well now that he’s back on the job we won’t have to worry anymore. Shame on those nasty people who took advantage of his absence by crushing groups critical of our great and fearless one. We know if he was there he would have nothing to do with their nefarious and illegal activities. He said so and we believe everything he says and does.

2008 Carville was right. We lost 2012 and have another 36 years to go.

Carville is exactly right.

The press, after a few weeks of phony anger at Obama, will never allow Obama to be permanently weakened or removed from office.

The economy is modestly improving.

That will be the new, number one story by the end of the month.

That - and Amnesty - which will probably pass in the House, and give Democrats a political majority for generations.
