Did the IRS give Mitt Romney’s tax returns to Harry Reid?
Daily Caller ^ | 05/16/2013 | Alex Pappas

WASHINGTON — During the 2012 presidential campaign, Harry Reid claimed to have intimate knowledge of what was secretly inside Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s tax returns.

As President Obama’s campaign slammed Romney nearly every day for not releasing more tax returns, the Senate majority leader repeatedly made the unsubstantiated claim that, at one point in his life, Romney hadn’t paid taxes for almost a decade.

He even did so from the floor of the U.S. Senate.

“The word’s out that he hasn’t paid any taxes for 10 years,” the Nevada Democrat claimed on the floor in August. “Let him prove that he has paid taxes, because he hasn’t.”

It made big news at the time, but Reid’s old accusations are popping back up now that it’s been revealed that the IRS has been targeting conservative groups and in some cases, reportedly leaking their tax information.

Knowing that, could someone at the IRS have leaked Romney’s tax information to Reid? At the time, Reid claimed he learned of Romney’s tax background from someone who had once been an investor in Romney’s firm, though he wouldn’t say who.

Since the new IRS scandal broke, Republicans have found the question of who Reid got his information from — and from where — intriguing.

“We all wondered how Harry Reid had Mitt Romney’s taxes,” Republican National Committee spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski told The Daily Caller. “The question is, will he call for a full investigation into the IRS?”

More likely ol’ Harry was just blowing smoke; if Romney’s returns actually had gotten out, they would certainly have been posted somewhere on the internet.

Dingy Harry was probably pulling it out of his butt again, but if he really had copies of tax returns he might be an accessory to a crime.

“We all wondered how Harry Reid had Mitt Romney’s taxes,” Republican National Committee spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski told The Daily Caller.

That did cross my mind too at the time.

But if Mitt Romney really did pay no income taxes for ten years, he had no business running for president, so I assumed Harry Reid didn't know what he was talking about.

Maybe her quote is taken out of context, but if the RNC did believe Reid and supported Romney anyway they're a bigger problem than anybody dreamed.

Romney would have been a really bad president...he has personally done NOTHING to remedy this attack from Reid.

Why doesn’t he sue Reid? Even if nothing comes from it and Reid is never put under oath, he’ll have to at least waste money on legal respresentation.

Romney is too cowardly to pursue this as he didn’t bother during the election.

There are only three possibilities:

1) Mitt or Anne Romney gave them to Reid.
2) Romney’s tax accountant gave them to Reid
3) People working inside the IRS gave them to Reid.

Just saying it gets the job done. I believe he said he ‘could’ prove it if he had to, or something to that effect.

I hope it did happen. Reid could be brought up on felony charges.

He was just letting him have the returns to see what he’d do with it, sort of like what he did with a Mexican drug cartel and some guns.

If everyone in Washington that could be brought up on charges, were, then the city would be deserted with exception of courtrooms and jails.

Isn’t it a felony to obtain someone else’s tax return? I’m sure that the good, honest senator will step down if this is found to be true.

It doesn’t really matter if he had them. The fact is, he could have had them for the asking, if he wanted them. We live in a banana republic.

It’s beginning to become very clear that thuggery and abuse of power may have tipped the balance in favor of Obama winning in 2012. Obama & his henchmen DEFRAUDED THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

The Candy Crowley interruption of Romney with an incorrect “correction” of Romney’s statement on Benghazi no doubt helped cause Romney to lose hundreds of thousands of votes. But Romney’s Benghazi allegation about The Tyrant In Chief was correct!

The Administration (and then the media) deprived Americans of the truth.

Romney would seem to have a good legal case to make that Obama’s election SHOULD BE invalidated. He should sue the bastard and all of his cronies. Well, maybe he values his life...

But SOMEONE should sue to have proper election and with the information that we know now and were deprived of before via fraud.
