BALLSTON SPA — A Ballston Lake man who thought he could time travel while driving drunk and on LSD won’t travel any further than state prison for up to three years after being convicted of vehicular assault.

According to Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy III, Terrence J. Rudes, 21, of Windy Hill Road in Ballston Lake was driving on Church Avenue in Ballston Spa Sept. 17 when he crossed a double yellow line and hit another vehicle head-on.

The driver of that car suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash.

Ballston Spa police, who responded to the scene of the crash, said Rudes told them “I thought I could time travel and drive through (the other car) … I wanted to see what would happen.”

Rudes pleaded guilty to vehicular assault, a felony, and was sentenced Thursday to 1-1/2 to three years in prison. His driver’s license also was revoked and, if he gets that back after his release from prison, he will have to use an ignition interlock device for three years.

LOL. Any time I read a story about LSD, I remember that there was a time when smart people were stupid enough to think that taking it made you smarter and expanded your mind.

Most of the so-called "smart" people weren't really that smart, they just pretended to be. I'm guessing most of the "ruling elite" in DC 'experimented' with it, including Hussein, Hillary and Idiot Joe (He got a double dose that fried the few brain cells he had.).

colored folk don't do acid ... but worse ...

"He told the police that he intentionally drove into the other car to see what would happen."

He didn't get charged with attempted homocide

Apparently his ideas are no more far fetched than our idea that Obama could ever be held to account for anything.

Considering when LSD was popular, and considering many things that are happening today I think we are seeing the fallout from that thinking.

Those that think they can time travel really annoy those of us that do.

Psychedelic drugs simply alter your perspective of reality. They do not make one smarter.

Yes, many stupid people simply use them for new experiences. But someone already smart can use those new perspectives to gain a better understanding of reality.

I personally know a world renowned mathematician who solved a problem that was thought impossible. He used LSD to approach it from a new perspective and holds one of the highest prizes in mathematics.

Francis Crick also admitted to frequently using psychedelics to expand his thoughts. His first vision of the DNA double helix was under the influence of LSD(he literally ran out of the laboratory shouting about his discovery). It was 100% legal then.

Countless other scientists and inventors have had a fondness for psychedelics. Adding even one new perspective to your work can make all the difference.

Syd Barrett made Pink Floyd a success by wigging out on it, thereby prompting many PF albums about Syd Barrett wigging out on it.

I suppose prison is a form of time travel.

Very slow and boring time travel, but time travel nonetheless.
