Majority of pools are contaminated by poop, CDC says

There's poop in public pools, according to a new report.

Researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found genetic material from E. coli bacteria in 58 percent of public pools they tested during the summer of 2012.

This shows that "swimmers frequently introduced fecal material into pools," which could spread germs to other people, the researchers wrote in their report. E. coli bacteria are normally found in the human gut and feces.

They also found genetic material from bacteria called Pseudomonas aeruginosa, whichcan cause skin rashes and ear infections, in 59 percent of pools.

The fecal material in pools comes from swimmers not showering before getting into the water, and from incidents of defecation in pools, according to the report. The average person has 0.14 grams of fecal material on their "perianal surface" that can rinse into a pool if a person doesn't shower first, according to the report

My kids were always disappointed when they were younger because I flat refused to take them to water parks. The older ones now understand why. I do not set foot in a public pool.

Only swim in a fast moving stream- upstream from everyone else.
That’s what I do.
That way, if someone defacates, it’s always below you.
That’s why I live in the Mountains.

Said the article, “The average person has 0.14 grams of fecal material on their “perianal surface””.

Considering the fact that MadMo commands the Muslim to “wipe their perianal area with three, five, or seven smooth stones, but never two, four, or six”, perhaps we can identify the source of that coliform DNA in the pools.

Got stones?

Everybody must get stoned . . .

Alright, I’ve now discovered I’m easily amused, because I spilled quite a bit of coffee when I looked at who posted this article.

For everyone else, Angeles Crest Highway is also known as...

State Route 2.

I see what you did there.

This is one reason I stopped going into public swimming pools years ago. Many people have no concerns peeing or pooping in a public pool these days.

I flat refused to take them to water parks

My daughter and I were in a Wisconsin Dells wave pool. My eyes were at water-level, and I could see a brown object floating in our direction. I yelled, "UFO! UFO! (Unidentified floating object) Get out of the pool!"

Needless to say we never went back.

Do you realize that someone allowed that UFO to escape from their swim trunks? The skunk was probably laughing!

What they don’t mention is the parts per billion here.

Sure they can find it, but the presence is so miniscule that for all practical purposes, it’s nearly non-existent.

This is just sensationalist reporting.

Okay, the bacteria is present, and makes up something like 0.0000000000000000001% of the volume of pool water.
