SPC issues products for local mets, hatching probabilities.

They fell down on Granbury... hence the casualties.

Again, the relative casualties are because the citizens were warned early in the day to make plans for shelter.

I am watching KTUL TV out of Tulsa. It is providing full coverage as storms move toward Tulsa area. KOTV out of Tulsa has also gone to full coverage. I get them on my cable TV.

On web, I am watching KFOR out of OKC.

Tomorrow won't be any better, according to the SPC:

http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day2otlk.html

..THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS SURROUNDING THE MDT RISK FROM SWRN TX TO THE UPPER GREAT LAKES...

...SOUTHERN PLAINS TO MID MS VALLEY...

SECONDARY MID LEVEL SPEED MAX...ON THE ORDER OF 60KT AT 500 MB...IS EXPECTED TO EJECT ACROSS THE SRN ROCKIES INTO NRN OK BY 21/00Z. WHILE LATE DAY1 CONVECTION MAY DISTURB LOW LEVEL WIND FIELDS ACROSS PORTIONS OF SERN KS INTO MO...IT APPEARS LARGE SCALE INFLUENCE OF APPROACHING SPEED MAX SHOULD SHARPEN SYNOPTIC FRONT ACROSS OK BY PEAK HEATING. THIS WILL BE THE PRIMARY FOCUS FOR RENEWED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT ACROSS THE MDT RISK REGION.

THUNDERSTORMS...A FEW SEVERE WITH A THREAT OF HAIL...MAY BE ONGOING AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PERIOD ACROSS SERN KS/MO ALONG THE NOSE OF VEERED LLJ. THIS CONVECTION MAY TEMPORARILY DISPLACE THE SYNOPTIC FRONT OR PERHAPS EVEN PRODUCE OUTFLOW THAT BECOMES A FOCUS FOR AFTERNOON CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT. STRONGEST BOUNDARY LAYER HEATING IS EXPECTED ACROSS WEST TX INTO SWRN OK WHERE SFC TEMPERATURES SHOULD SOAR INTO THE 90S. ALONG/NORTH OF THE MAIN MID LEVEL JET CORE MID LEVEL TEMPERATURES SHOULD COOL SUCH THAT DEEP CONVECTION WILL EASILY DEVELOP ALONG AFOREMENTIONED CONVECTIVE OUTFLOW BOUNDARY INTO MO AND SHARPENING COLD FRONT/DRYLINE FARTHER WEST. IN FACT...TSTMS MAY DEVELOP BY 20-21Z ACROSS OK WHERE SBCAPE IS EXPECTED TO BE IN EXCESS OF 3000 J/KG. FORECAST DEEP LAYER SHEAR...IN EXCESS OF 50KT THROUGH 6KM...AND THE PROSPECT FOR A VERY MOIST WARM SECTOR FAVOR NUMEROUS SUPERCELL STRUCTURES...AT LEAST THROUGH MID EVENING OF THE CONVECTIVE CYCLE. VERY LARGE HAIL AND TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE WITH SUPERCELLS AND WITH TIME ONE OR MORE MCS/S SHOULD EVOLVE ALONG NOSE OF STRENGTHENING LLJ OVER OK. AMPLE MID LEVEL FLOW WILL EXTEND ALONG THE DRYLINE INTO THE EDWARDS PLATEAU OF TX SUPPORTIVE OF ISOLATED SUPERCELL STRUCTURES CAPABLE OF PRODUCING AT LEAST LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS.

My cats were worthless. They were non-earthquake detectors.

OK

KTUL is reporting that the supercell seems to be weakening slightly. Rotation seems to be lessening. Still on trajectory to pass south of Tulsa.

I keep my cat’s litter boxes in the basement so the pups aren’t allowed down there so they love to get down there at any chance. The younger of my 2 cats will hide but the older one will follow me if I have to seek shelter. So far, nothing major - rain, thunder and a little wind.

Looks like you will be a little better off as the storms up your way have formed a line...a little better than those single super storms. Thank goodness!

You are lucky! We didn’t get much here - thunder, rain and some wind. I’m almost out of the woods.

RE: Animals and weather and green skies:
The Loma Prieta 10-17-89 ED epicenter was about 10 miles from where we lived. My dogs followed me under a stout table. Our neighbor’s cat blamed the neighbor for all the shaking and gave her the “silent cat treatment” for months.

I grew up in KS. green skies usually means hail and bad winds.

In KS, when the air gets deathly still, the cattle stop lowing and milling about, birds stop singing, it’s time to head for the cellar. It’s an eerie quiet, the hairs on the back of your neck stand straight up, you know instinctively something very bad is about to happen.

I pray for everyone impacted in these storms. My parents are in their basement now. I hope they and everyone are safe.

They just had an explanation of what a multi-vortex tornado is....I didn’t get it all but one who studies these says the speed in these is 315 miles and hour, that has actually been tracked and measured. BUT he believes the speed is much greater....so this is why they become so violent.

Something to do with the air not keeping up with the speed of the tornado rotation etc. so the main vortex divides itself....as this one did.

Kfor just said there are no longer any tornado warnings in their area...but possible more tomorrow as another jet stream comes in....which is apparently what forms these.
