The Morally Straight Boy Scouts Of America – OpEd

It comes as no surprise that, during a CBS interview in February, President Obama supported having the Boy Scouts of America open its membership to gays and, presumably, those who lead scout troops as well. “My attitude, the President said “is that gays and lesbians should have access and opportunity the same way everybody else does, in every institution and walk of life.” Spoken like a good Communist hiding the true intent of debasing the cultural and moral life of America.

I think the BSA is suspect just for considering this change

There are employees of the BSA whose job is to beat the bushes for donations. They get commissions based on how much money they bring in.

Some of those folks have not been doing so well lately since the BSA has been deemed to be anathema by the MSM and corporate America.

What in the blazes does Obama know about the Boy Scouts?? Was he one, I doubt it. He could NEVER qualify to be an Eagle Scout. What opportunities will anyone be denied by not being a Boy Scout. If it’s communist-socialist or degrades America, obummer is for it.

Notice the President didn’t say he thought it was perfectly fine private groups can set their own membership requirements.

Notice his administration took a christian school to court because they fired a lesbian employee. And lost.

Grandson’s Troop had their annual fundraiser last month. Contributions for auction and money raised for items that were donated was down. Even though we are in Texas, not everyone works in the oil patch, particularly the parents of these kiddos and many are having some real financial problems.

Three of the smaller local businesses that normally make sizable contributions said they were going to wait to find out how the Council voted. If the present structure was maintained, they would be contributing again. If gays were allowed, they would not be contributing.

Our local Republican group has been pushing everyone we know to stop using UPS and other companies that are pushing for inclusion of gays.

I think there are lots of things feeding into this. Come the 23rd we should have a resolution. If gays are included I feel fairly certain this particular Troop will disband or form their own organization.

Same here. My son’s troop passed the hat at the last meeting asking for donations on behalf of “Friends of Scouting”. I normally contribute several hundred dollars but this year I’m keeping my powder dry until after the meeting. If things go south the BSA doesn’t get one red dime out of me. And my son, who is a Life Scout, will finish his Eagle and immediately pop smoke.

They are just about done just for considering it. When will they finally realize that this really has nothing to do about homosexual boys wanting to join the Scouts it’s about forcing a one gender type organization that turns boys into men to disband because they’re not welcome there and is a power play only. Also that and the fact that they want easier access to your children alone when youre not there.

You simply cannot negotiate with terrorists, the unreasonable, or lefties. You will only end up appeasing them after they use their standard bullying tactics with assistance from the homo sympathetics that are as morally corrupt as they are.

Great. Than I think it’s time to let whites Asians and other ‘rainbow’ colors into the NAACP!

Methinks that there is inevitability in the legal realm, under equal protection jurisprudence, which will mean de facto gay marriage in 2-3 years. Regardless of state law, state constitutions, or federal statutes (e.g., DOMA.) In the absence of a federal constitutional amendment prohibiting gay marriage or exempting state marriage laws from the equal protection clause, it's happening. The only debatable point is exactly when it happens.

My thought is that, while a constitutional amendment would be preferable, it's very unlikely to happen in time.

So what does that leave us with? Churches. The First Amendment protects churches from state interference in their beliefs and practices. So, disband the BSA and regroup as an auxiliary function of churches that do not sanction homosexual marriage, or homosexuals in the church hierarchy. The Mormon Church could sponsor many troops, other churches could organize and sponsor other troops, which could be loosely affiliated in a national structure, and LGBT folks could go pound sand.

I think the realistic option here has to be - find a way for increased church sponsorship and provision of services (Boy Scouts, day care, expanded school programs, etc.) which, governmentally provided, are subject to all these intrusions and challenges by LGBT activists.

I also like the idea that Scott Walker offered, (if same sex marriage is being jammed down our throats...) getting the state out of the marriage business. Let Churches define their protocols on marriage and make the civil recording of a marriage something utterly trivial like getting a fishing license. Then for example you would have the Mormon church using its sealing process, which would not accommodate same sex marriages. How could LGBT activists try to change that without running head first into the First Amendment? They couldn't.

For a scout to claim to be gay they would also have to claim to be sexually active, something that does not belong in scouting. Hence the morally straight bit.

So did the "republican" candidate.

Our Scout Council rep e-mailed me about setting up a Friends of Scouting presentation. I flat out told him that we would not as a troop consider it until after the vote and pending an outcome we approve of. That outcome is to vote no and keep the current policy.

The new BSA president is a big time Obana supporter. His ass should tossed out. He’s the right leader of this nonsense.
