It is now well known that the Obama justice department has prosecuted more government leakers under the 1917 Espionage Act than all prior administrations combined - in fact, double the number of all such prior prosecutions. But as last week's controversy over the DOJ's pursuit of the phone records of AP reporters illustrated, this obsessive fixation in defense of secrecy also targets, and severely damages, journalists specifically and the newsgathering process in general.

I encourage FReepers to read the whole article. This isn’t about just Fox News and James Rosen. It’s about the 1st amendment. What the Obama/Holder DOJ is doing goes far beyond anything that has ever been done before.
It makes me wonder at what point the lamestream media went from refusing to report on Obama because he was their Messiah to being afraid to do so. Will they stand with Fox News again as they did when the WH wanted to exclude Fox from those interviews?
Okay. Let's see. The journalist should just invoke one of his 'Eric Holder' defenses .....

Agree that all of these scandals at the same time is something like a three ring circus. There is so much going on that the average citizen can’t follow them all. They just blur into some amorphous blob.

Here’s the thing...
These tactics might be understandable if the government were actually trying to locate someone who was leaking national security information, you know, actual ‘spy stuff.’ Like, say, publishing classified details of an effort to find international terrorists. (I’m looking you, New York Times.) But what we have here is the government trying to figure out who is exposing its inner secrets.
In other words, this isn’t a case of a government trying to protect the country.
This is a government trying to protect itself.

So, the Obama DOJ, in order to cover and justify their crimes, is now going to prosecute the journalists?
Fine...they are simply going to alienate the people who have been covering for Obama for so long and maybe now a few of them will actually be motivated to be real journalists instead of cheerleaders.
They have plenty of opportunities...a traget rich environment:
- Presidential order telling his Justice Department to not procesute or investigate Defense of Marriage Act violations.
- Department of Justice simply dropping the voter intimidation case against New Black Panther hoods who were filmed committing voter intimidation in 2008.
- Fast and Furious - Murdergate.
- The downing of the Navy SEAL helicopter in Afghanistan where 22 SEALs were killed on an out-of-date non SPECOPS hhelo that was sent into a known Taliban ambush without escort, and with every SEAL on a single helo.
- Gun running to Syrian Al Queda rebels.
- Benghazi consulate and safe house attack and murder of the US Ambassador, a State Department specialist and two Navy SEALs.
- The IRS intentional intimidation of conservative organizations.
- This issue of the Obama administration tapping journalists phone conversations without notification or a legal warrant.

There are three ways the federal government is funded:
1. Taxes
2. Federal Reserve
3. Financial Trade*
* This is an offshoot of private placement. The Fed’s have their own platforms and are using them to finance expenses beyond 1 and 2 above.
The takeaway here is that powers within the federal government do not need taxpayers nor do they need Congress performing actions such as raising the debt ceiling.
