>>As an African-American you have to work twice as hard<<

So...why don’t they?

All they have to do is watch ‘Cops”. There are many examples of blacks getting by. Or, watch ‘Judge Judy’, and the getting by is painfully evident.

It only seems twice as hard when you are a black racist that thinks everything is just handed to “whitey” and you’re a lazy black that doesn’t want to work in the first place.

“... he could have ended up in prison or unemployed...”

Still a likely scenario!!

And “O” certainly does everything he can, every day of his life to QUALIFY for this alternative!

Martin Luther King would be turning in his grave, at the state of black America.

I may get flamed, but, black culture/gang culture/baby mama culture, such as it is, is what is holding black people back, not discrimination.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed almost 50 years ago. School integration did not happen immediately after the Brown decision of 1954, but it did happen, and nobody has attended a legally segregated inferior school in decades.

In fact, in many schools with large black student populations, the teachers, administrators, and principals are all black also. If they are getting an inferior education, is it racism if the people running these schools are also black???

And what of personal choices? Disproportionate numbers of minority youth get in trouble with the law and have babies out of wedlock as teenagers. Is any of that due to racism?

Political correctness does not allow us to have frank discussions of some issues, including race. Flame away.

They think we all lead these lives free of financial concern, and it was just handed to us because we’re white.

Not just a racial divide. There are plenty of white folks who think that those who have more than they do had it somehow fall out of the sky into their laps. They seethe with envy. One of my (white) co-workers falls into this category. He makes somewhere north of $130k a year. his wife works - dunno how much she makes - always broke Always resentful that those of us who know how to manage our money have more of it than he does. He and his wife live for immediate gratification. they consider credit the same as money. The have two kids that they send to private schools. TOTAL WASTE OF $$$. But rather than learn by example he thinks there is something wrong with the rest of us. (other than my typing)

So for an example does he mean...

in order to get in college, a black person would have to twice as good grades as a white person?

To get hired by the government, a black person would have to have twice the qualifications as a white person applying for the job?

Or if you don’t want to do that, you can just cry racism and get by through Affirmative Action.

When net worth studies are done and are normalized for income, there is a definite cultural difference between Asians (having the most), “Whites” (in the middle), and “Blacks” (having the least).

It’s about what the money gets spent on - things that Appreciate, or things that DEpreciate.

BO said “As an African-American you have to work twice as hard” I suppose that is what he learned from his Dad...

My Dad always taught me “any job worth doing is worth doing right the first time.” Saves a lot of “re-work.” I guess that is what the dear leader was talking about, the VAST amount of re-work he has had to do and re-do. Measure twice...cut once.

He should have tried the American way the first time.

Imagine what would happen if a White president told a graduating class that he feels a special obligation to help Whites find jobs and succeed in America. Whatever happened to the government’s obligation to treat all citizens equally under our laws?

Leaving aside the p***poor writing that doesn’t read as if written by a Brit .. does anyone have any memory of Obama ever working hard for anything beyond getting the D nomination in ‘08, then elected and reelected in’12 ?

"fallacy"

There was also the phrase I heard fifty years ago that a black athlete had to be twice as good as a white player to get a particular job. Another was black people never get a second chance. Both are easy to disprove. It's true that fifty years ago and before, black athletes on many pro teams were either stars or superstars. Many clubs did not want too many black athletes on their rosters unless they were exceptional players. In the fifties, most black pros were great players. Nevertheless, even by the sixties, many clubs had black ballplayers who were average.

But no athlete in any major sport has ever been twice as good as another. It's simply physically impossible. In fact once you've been playing a certain sport for enough time (like golf or tennis), and you're healthy, it's impossible to improve beyond five or ten percent. Which would be an enormous improvement.

Another fallacy was the "if they fail, blacks never get a second chance." That one has also been disproven so many times it's beyond counting. I recall numerous black ballplayers (Marvin Barnes, Randy Moss, many others) who screwed up numerous times, but were given second chances by clubs desperate for talent. The pernicious effect of those lies was to give many young black athletes a ready-made excuse (white racism) if they failed, but it also probably discouraged many from trying thinking that if they failed, they'd never get a second chance.

The fact that he is doing this now is somewhat telling. He likely knows he is in for a big fight for his political survival, and thus is ramping up the race card to protect him when as things heat up. He would not be doing this if he didn't know he is vulnerable. IMHO.
