I recommend putting them out of business with a superior alternative.

My college freshman daughter wouldn’t read any book I gave her.

I will be so sorry when Sowell retires.

And WHO is paying for her college? You? Make her work and see how conservative she will become.

Sowell BTT. I am delighted to boast that I have read two of the four. I think, though, that I'd add a couple of his own books to that list: Knowledge and Decisions and Compassion vs. Guilt.

Why would he retire from writing columns?
We’ll, someday, read a column he didn’t finish...

Two “fundamentals” that you have to read first -
A Conflict of Visions
and
Basic Economics

Better yet, have your children read the books before they go to college. Perhaps require book reports in exchange for a driver’s license ...

I think Knowledge and Decisions, one of Dr. Sowell's early books, was reworked as The Vision of the Anointed.

Wonderful idea!
At the very least, one should read the book, as well, and then give the daughter a test on it with the understanding that if she can’t answer questions correctly, she will be required to find a part-time job to help pay for the next semester or leave college.
I have a sister who went to Harvard—she voted Benghazi Hussein Obama TWICE; PROOF that these are indoctrination centers.

I'll add his Marxism to the mix. I guess he'd consider it vain to recommend all his books himself, so I will. LOL!
To: jazusamo
Personally, I am happy with this. Realistically, if a person doesn’t want to learn, has no desire to better themselves, has no interest in another point of view, then it doesn’t matter. Doesn’t hurt anything though, and it always helps to improve your own personal knowledge.
